This 13 piece band and Nannette plays everything, oldies, swing, waltz, line dances. There is something for everyone. A new board headed up with Carol Rhine as president will plan your dancing evenings for 2016. Membership dues of $25 per person can be mailed to Carol at 1315 Cypress point Dr or brought to the first dance of the new year. Have a happy and healthy new year. The 2015 holiday season is over, and we here at Sun Lakes have attended numerous dances, district parties and various celebrations with friends and family during the past month, along with ringing in the new year 2016. We are not quite through, however, as we have the first dance of the year to celebrate with the ICC on the second Thursday evening in January starting at 5:30 pm when the doors to our ballroom open and we welcome 2016 and all of our members. This is sure to be a fun evening with Global Affair providing the music for dancing and listening, starting at 6 pm. The dinner buffet by table call starts at 6:30 pm and will feature some Italian favorites. Garlic cheese pizza with parsley topping, vegetarian lasagna in red sauce, sausage and bell peppers, penne pasta with choice of Marinara meat sauce or chicken mushroom alfredo sauce, Italian vegetables (zucchini/cauliflower/carrots). A pre-set antipasto dinner salad with provolone cheese, tomatoes, black olives with ranch and golden Italian dressings along with garlic bread and spumoni ice cream with whipped cream and chopped nuts rounds out the menu. Coffee and iced tea will be found on a side board. You can sign up for this evening on the first Thursday afternoon in January at the North Clubhouse at 3 pm. Cost is $22 for members, $25 dollars for an out of town guest. Please remember 2016 membership dues are due at this time, and have to be paid in order to attend. International Culture Club International Dancers 80s Plus Club Big Band Dance Happy New Year Sun Lakes! We hope your holiday season was joyous and that 2016 will be all you want it to be. From a deep bench of gifted and capable women, IDS has elected Diane Avina its Director for 2016. Diane, congratulations and thank you for taking on this responsibility. We also thank our past directors for their leadership and service: Nora Huffman 2015; Joan Lau 2014 and 2013; and Martie Steggell 2012. We are excited to have a new year ahead in which to dance and have fun. Our January social event for members and spouses will be "A Taste of Singapore" party. Upcoming parties in the planning stages are "Chinese New Year Celebration" and "Hafla." The November entertainment was Ray Rendon. He delivered a beautiful and professional show with very little notice when the scheduled entertainment had a family emergency. Thank you, Ray. He sang classic hits including Blue Velvet, Dream a Little Dream (with whistling included), New York/New York and My Way along with others. He was, as always, very appreciated. The ladies love him, and I think the men enjoyed him, too. We had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner catered by Thomas Catering. Happy holidays to all! The January dinner is catered.
