On a cold winter's night, 13 8-Ball Club members met to wage a
battle for the monthly in-house 8-Ball tournament championship.
Amazingly enough, for four rounds, both Thanh and Roland
Harrah remained undefeated, but alas they had to play each other.
Thanh won that match up, propelling herself into the finals and
sending Roland crashing into the losers column where Roland had
to find a way to win against Kenny Payne, one of our premier players.
Somehow Roland prevailed and now the final matches could begin.
Due to the double-elimination format, Roland had the daunting task
of beating Thanh twice since she was undefeated on the day. Game
one went to Roland and, at the risk of great bodily harm he was
established as the winner by taking the second game as well. Thus
it was, for the first time ever, a husband and wife were in the finals
together. As it was, so let it be written into the annals of history, the
Harrah clan ruled the day.
9 Ball in-house tournament play was similar to 8-Ball this month.
Both Larry Rice and Leo Babin were undefeated by the field of 11
players, then Larry beat Leo. Leo from the losers column prevailed
against Ray Windhorn to then return to the finals against Larry.
This final match was over in one game as Larry won the first game
and champion title for the month. Congratulations to Larry and to
his worthy opponent Leo.
