13 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | February 2016 | Facilities Committee As the New Year begins, the Facilities committee will have a full slate to start the year. What are some of our top priorities? At the end of 2015, we discovered that all the shade structures had dry rot in them. The structures covered the picnic tables, shuffleboard courts, bocce ball courts, and the swimming pool covers over the chairs and tables. We had to immediately demolish the structures for safety reasons. Now begins the rebuilding process. The committee is looking at various solutions that will continue to maintain the integrity of our community, and last longer than the 10 years of the previous structures. We are working with the redesign program for our plaza area with the expectation of incorporating new shade structures. The committee is also concerned with the problems that can result with the New Year's freezing weather, which can bring a new set of problems in the way of frozen pipes, water feature pump issues, roof leaks, along with frozen irrigation pipes. Our monthly inspections should uncover any leakage problems. If you don't notice many changes to the community, it is because we try to make the repairs as quickly and unnoticeable as possible. The Facilities Committee works very hard with the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors to ensure we get the best pricing so the Association's money is spent wisely. As the New Year begins, it looks like our community will change for the better, even more so than in the previous 10 years. You may want to take some time to look around and observe how our community has improved progressively throughout the years. Community Awareness Committee Absent a formal quorum, we had a discussion of 2016 goals and objectives. As always, our Chairman, Allan Jaffee, provided the enthusiasm we needed to look to the future of the New Year! Gratefully board members Gene Hikel and Ken Pounders also attended. Working closely with the board of directors and residents is a strategic goal of our committee. It has proven to be an outstanding model for the successful accomplishments of the past year. Highway 79 re-alignment and city, county, federal and government relations will be at the top of our to-do list. This will be an important year for all of us, but you have representatives that keep an eye on issues and communicate with decision-makers that affect our way of life! We welcome your suggestions and would like you to know that our scheduled meeting is held in the Board Room on the first Monday of the month at 3 pm.
