Sign ups will take place in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room on Wed., March 21 from 1 to 2 pm. This will be a no host bar and appetizer menu only. Hope you enjoyed the Valentine Dinner Dance last month. The BBDC Board hopes to provide a sit down dinner every other month throughout the year. Remember your money for the 50- 50 tickets sold by Vince and Lily Ramirez. Guests are welcomed by Barbara Shova and Patti Webb - $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Saint Patrick's Day is one of the events that members thoroughly enjoy celebrating with wearing of the green, possibly an Irish jig or two, and dining on corned beef and cabbage. This evening starts at 5:30 on the second Thursday evening in March when the doors to the Ballroom open. Music by Skyline Express for dancing and listening starts at 6. We have a short break allowing latecomers to get seated when we officially start the evening by welcoming everyone and having a Pledge of Allegiance to our flag and country. We then have birthdays and wedding anniversaries occurring during the month celebrated with photographs taken by Ed Avina, our club photographer. Our dinner buffet by table call starts at 6:30 pm, and is over quite quickly as we have two buffet stations with two lines on each, we will of course feature corned beef with cabbage and boiled red new potatoes along with asparagus chicken and green beans almondine. The dinner salad with tomatoes/ red onion rings and cucumbers with ranch and Italian dressings is table pre-set along with potato rolls from Bosch. The dessert of a chocolate parfait with Irish Crème is also table served along with coffee and water. Iced tea can be found on a sideboard. Sign ups for this event are on the first Thursday afternoon at the North Clubhouse at 3 pm. $22 for a member, $25 for non-resident guests. International Culture Club International Dancers 80s Plus Club Big Band Dance Happy St. Patrick's Day, Sun Lakes! IDS is now 55 members strong. Even as we sadly prepare to bid farewell to two members who are moving away, we happily say welcome to five new members. Ladies, we expect 2016 to be an exciting, fun-filled year for the group, and we would be pleased to have you join us. Our entertainment for January was Jon Reese. His beautiful, soft voice delivered many 50s and 60s songs including Knock on Wood, My Girl, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, Rockin' Robin, Under the Boardwalk and Let's Stay Together. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all. We had a wonderful chicken marsala catered dinner by Thomas Catering. Our March and April dinners are also catered. The two hour show features eight Stardust numbers as well as many invited guest performers. They will also perform in the international dance show, and the Sun Lakes Follies. A newly formed costume committee will be implementing designs for these shows. All costumes are paid for by receipts from their showcase. Members of the group sew and decorate the costumes worn. Emily Alvarez has served as head seamstress for many years. Headpiece specialists are Carol Hurt, Florence Morck and Peggy Frederick.
