Our Spring Art Show is Sat., April 9, from 11 am to 3:45 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. There will be a variety of media for the public to view and enjoy. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to vote for the piece of artwork they like the best, and the one receiving the most votes will win the People's Choice Award. Sun Lakers and their friends are invited at no charge and will have the opportunity to participate in a demonstration of several art projects that are designed for children to enjoy. The April General Meeting is April 17 at 2 pm at the South Clubhouse. The demo artists will be quilters Kaye Garton and Judi Steenson. They will have a mini quilt show. They will talk about the different types of quilts, the different fabrics that can be used and much more! All Sun Lakers and their friends are invited to the meeting. The winners of the mini-show at the February meeting are pictured to the right. The first, second and third place winners were chosen by all those at the meeting. The Best of Show was chosen by Sharon Rachal of Rachal's Art Center in Yucaipa. Luz Perez will present a half-day workshop on "Techniques of Painting Water" on Mon., April 11, at 9 am in the Main Clubhouse Arts & Crafts Room. Luz specializes in plein air, portraits and landscape paintings. She is a founding member of the Plein Air Artists of Riverside. To see examples of her work, go to luzperezfineart.weebly. com. The deadline for registration and payment is April 4. Do you enjoy painting just for fun without an instructor? We are starting a group of talented artists to get together on most Mondays and paint whatever you desire. You can use any medium, but you have to bring all your own supplies. Since there will be no instructor, we will be each other's critics. We can bring our own lunch, or go to the sandwedge. This would be a great way to fellowship with fellow artists.
