26 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2016 | Yiddish Culture Club "Why is this night different from all other nights?" is the first question asked, usually by the son of the family, near the beginning of the Passover Seder. It will be asked again in millions of homes on the first night of Passover because the word Seder means Order and we will follow that order on the night of April 13, when the Yiddish Culture Club will have their family Seder, complete with catered dinner, beginning at 6 pm in the South Clubhouse. Again this year our Seder will include all the traditional symbols of matzoh, wine, bitter herbs, parsley, roasted or boiled egg, home made charoset, and the truly symbolic lamb bone. As usual all these symbols will be explained as a reminder of their meaning in the Seder ceremony. Dinner will follow and include family favorites such as chicken soup with matzoh balls, gefilte fish, roast chicken, brisket, roast potatoes with onions, and green beans almondine. Dessert will be strawberries and whipped cream served over angel food cake. Coffee and tea will be available as well. Participation of the entire 'family' will take place during the reading of the Haggadah, which tells of a people's liberation from slavery and emphasizes the struggle for freedom and human dignity not only of the past but of the present as well. Our tradition requires us to remember the slavery of the past to reinforce our commitment to freedom for we must not delight in freedom as long as others in the world are not free. Since this is a joyous as well as a serious holiday, we will join in song and maybe even in dance as we celebrate. We welcome everyone to join us for this event, but please remember seating is limited in the South Clubhouse. The cost for the Seder with dinner is $20 pp for Yiddish Culture Club members and $23 pp for non-member guests. Paid reservations must be received by April 8. A flyer with reservation form is available in the Main Clubhouse Lobby. Seating will be by paid reservation which should be sent to Marge Amstadter, 4814 Crenshaw Circle. Info., Marge, 769-1747. Calling all men! Does the "Heart of your Heart" inspire you to sing? Do you long to call your sweetheart in song? If so, then you should check out the Sun Lakes Men's Barbershop Chorus. No prior singing experience necessary, just a willingness to listen, learn, and join in. We are a group of amateurs like yourself who enjoy singing and having fun. We meet every Wednesday morning at 9 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. For details contact Harry Kaylor at 845-8054. Come join us! Barbershop Chorus We are all looking forward to our next rally located in Camp Verde May 15-20. Camp Verde is south of Sedona. The trail bosses will be Jon and Judy Reese. Jon and Judy would welcome another couple to join their committee. If you are interested, please contact them at 845-6248. This is beautiful country. Also, we will be going to Moab Sept. 14-20. The trail bosses will be Bill and Blanca McDade. This is a unique and interesting area. The RV Club has an exciting year planned. We have welcomed several new members this year. If you enjoy the company of good friends and fun times in some beautiful settings, this is the club for you. We offer activities at each of our rallies, or the chance to explore on your own. Activities may include golf, bocce, bean bag baseball and more. There are planned meals to get together with your fellow RV club members. It is a great group of people.
