14 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2016 | EXCURSION SIGN-UPS: All new excursions are not released for sign-up until the FIRST DAY OF THE MONTH BEGINNING AT 8 AM. If the first falls on a Saturday or Sunday then sign-ups will begin on the following Monday. If a holiday falls on the first day of the month, sign-ups will begin the next day. WAITING LIST POLICY: The waiting list is created by the Rec. Dept. for sold out events/excursions. This list is used (in order of registration) when the attendee has to cancel due to illness, doctor's appointment, etc. The waiting list is not used for additional sign-ups for secondary excursions that are scheduled due to their popularity. Contact the Rec. Dept. if you have any questions about either of these two policies. WE ACCEPT CHECKS ONLY. You can register up to 4 people (including yourself ) per check per household, payable to Sun Lakes Country Club. All Recreation Classes, Excursions, and Special Events are open to residents only, unless otherwise specified. Due to some of the excursion refund policies, and to keep cancellations down to a minimum, we ask those who wish to sign up for an excursion to please check your calendar for prior engagements prior to signing up for excursions. REFUND POLICY: 1. Cancellations made 30 days prior to the departure date of an excursion or special event will qualify for a full refund, unless otherwise specified. 2. Cancellations made after the 30 day refund deadline are not refundable. However, if an excursion or event has sold out and there is a wait list, the Recreation Department may issue a refund if the ticket can be resold from the wait list. Thank you! EXCURSIONS EXCURSION SIGN UPS: FRI., APRIL 1, 8 AM Pechanga Wed., June 29, 10 am - 6 pm, $5 with $5 free play. Spend a five hour stay at Pechanga Resort and Casino. A vast 200,000 square foot gaming floor makes Pechanga California's biggest casino. Designed with player comfort in mind, the casino is equipped with a state-of-the-art air filtration system and offers extensive non-smoking areas. The casino's well-planned layout allows guests to move easily among more than 3,000+ slot and video machines as well as over 130+ table games. Uncorking the Cave: Old Town Temecula & Oak Mountain Winery Tour Mon., June 6, 9:30 am - 5 pm, $54 pp. Old Town Temecula has been around since 1882 when the California Railroad came through the valley and local investors created the first bank. After lunch (on own) and shopping at Old Town, we will head over to the Oak Mountain Wine Caves for a Tour & Tasting! Oak Mountain Wine Caves: Our Vertical Barrel Tasting Experience is a journey like no other. Your experience will start in the Estate Vineyards at Oak Mountain Winery. The well educated wine educators will navigate you through 302 feet of tunnels that wind into the hillside of our newly excavated Wine Caves. You will learn how their grapes are farmed and processed. You will gain knowledge of how the caves were constructed and the importance they play in the aging of their wines. The 10,000 square foot caves keep the subterranean storage at an average temperature of 66 degrees and 75 percent humidity. They are able to store up to 1,000 barrels in the caves. Your host will lead you 104' deep underground to our barrel room where you will have the opportunity to taste six of their current release wines. Your experience will end at the Cave Bar where you can purchase any of the wines that you tasted along your journey, or to join the exclusive Cave Club. Visit the Rec. It's Senior Day at the Santa Anita Racetrack! "The Great Race Place," Located in Arcadia, Santa Anita is nestled in a stunning natural setting at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains. From its beginning, the property and race track were envisioned as a grand, expansive public park, blending art-deco architecture and lush landscaped gardens, accented by a wealth of historic ornamental sculptures, soaring fountains and vast green lawns. Today, it has come to be known as one of America's most celebrated sporting landmarks!
