| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2016 |29 Confused over the relationship between ISO, Aperture and Shutter speed? Do those terms even mean anything to you? They are all part of what makes your pictures work. Sun Lakes Photo Group meetings are the place you belong. We get to share our pictures at each meeting, have a yearly exhibit in the club house and take field trips. For April you may bring five of your favorite shots to share with the group. Meetings are always on the second Monday of the month at 7 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. The next meeting will be on April 11. Last month this reporter had the date wrong but this date has been checked and rechecked. This month we will go over the terms listed above in a short fifteen minute tutorial. There is a projector system and photos can be brought on either a CD or a flash drive, sometimes known as a thumb drive. If you would like to see what members of the group have been doing there is an electronic display next to the Main Clubhouse lounge that has revolving photos. Some of our members had no idea which end of the camera was which when they first started and you will see that their progress is amazing. You will like attending the Sun Lakes Photo Group. Meetings are informal, there are no dues and whether you are a novice or a pro it is always fun to see what others are doing with their cameras. For information please call Steve Felber, 769-6898. Photography We wonder about the purpose of life. What higher purpose than to discover our true nature? Meditation, an integral part of proceeding on a path of Self (God) – Realization promises to do just that. When the mind with its myriad thoughts becomes quiet and still, we can feel what lies beyond. The Pure, Non-Dual (only ONE) Consciousness lies beyond and is our true, undifferentiated and eternal being. Satsang (group meeting with a spiritual aim) begins with a 30 minute meditation (15 minute if new people are present) followed by a discourse and a short video presentation offered by a teacher adhering to the same teaching of Non-Duality. As always, questions are warmly encouraged. We meet in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room (next to the Library). We meet weekly Wednesdays 2:30 to 3:45 pm and Sundays 11:30 am to 1 pm. (Note: On the fourth Wednesday of the month satsang starts at 3:30 pm) This is a free offering. My background includes 29 years of formal spiritual practice under the guidance of two masters and six years of teaching (four at Sun Lakes). You need not bring anything except an open mind. My name is Gina and I can be reached at gina-sat@msn. com or 846-1220 if you have further questions. Meditation: a pathway to truth How many songs can you think of that can be classified as a St. Patrick's Day tune? How about… When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, Danny Boy, My Wild Irish Rose, Harrigan, MacNamara's Band, Too-Ra-Loo-Ra-Loo- Ral and Dear Old Donegal? These are just a few that come to mind. It seems that as time goes on the tradition of singing a good old fashioned Irish song goes by the wayside except in the world of karaoke. Many music fans who grew up watching TV and singing along with Mitch Miller while following the bouncing ball revere these timeless classics. These songs bring on the nostalgia whenever they are played, not to mention whenever St. Patrick's Day rolls around again. Thanks to D.J. Blast's background in radio and his ongoing quest to find songs that audiences may find fun to sing he has added many of these songs and more to his Karaoke library. Along with an array of St. Patrick's Day images displayed on the big screen throughout the evening. Barb Miller, Rosie Ingalls and D.J. Blast dressed in the Irish Tradition at this event to relay a festive flare to the evening's Karaoke party celebration. Many of the Karaoke regulars sang songs that they were familiar with in the course of the night, yet were encouraged by D.J. Blast to sing-a-long to an Irish tune on occasion While Barb and Rosie walked around the room with the wireless microphones to let the audience have a go at it while they followed along to the lyrics on the theater screen. Barb, Rosie & D.J. Blast were the featured entertainers for The Sun Lake's Social Singles Club on March 11, in the South Clubhouse. It was a St Patrick's Day Theme and again this Karaoke trio dressed in St. Paddy's Day attire to suit the event. The second Karaoke event at the South Clubhouse on March 25 was very entertaining as well. We invite you to come out and meet Barb Miller, Rosie Ingalls & Blas Vallejo (AKA D.J. Blast) at the next and only Karaoke gathering in April. The date is Fri., April 22 at the South Clubhouse which begins at 5:30 pm and lasts to 9:30 pm. These gatherings are usually very well received. You can expect music, dancing, fun and of course it is free as always. Why not put it on your calendar? We would hate to mark you absent. P.S. Barb, Rosie & D.J. send condolences to Theresa Moreno who lost her husband Tony Moreno recently. He is missed very much at our gatherings. Karaoke Group
