36 | OCEAN HILLS NEWS | APRIL 2016 | Though April may be a month for fools and taxes (is there a connection there?) and, hopefully showers, it also brings the long-planned and much anticipated RV trip to Sedona, April 16 to 24: 16 RVs and several WOWS will enjoy the beauty, fun, and adventure of this scenic area. Thanks again to Joann Bush, Bill Beckley and Skip and Sandy Harvey for putting it all together. Happy Trails to you all for a safe trip. Our annual Lot Party will be held May 24 in the unique venue of the RV lot. Mark your calendars for a potluck of appetizers in all shapes and forms, salads and sides, fried chicken and delectable deserts… more information to come concerning sign ups. The really big trip to the Utah Grand Circle, Sept., 12 to 26, will include stops in Las Vegas, Zion, Bryce, Kanab, Utah, and Lake Powell. Scheduled dinners, tours and park ranger talks are just some of the highlights of the trip. Bob and Barbara Becker and Jerry and Nancy Gayvert are heading up this "wagon train" with Mel and Jan Feintuch coordinating the WOWS. There is a wait list, but always last minute cancellations, so stay tuned. For those of you really looking into the future for trips in 2017, our Vice President of Trips, Joann Bush, has gleaned some great ideas from members' interests. The Alppne Sage and Songbird Festival (enjoyed by so many in the past), Lake Tahoe, Virginia City and the Reno Balloon Festival, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Grand Tetons and Yellowstone, Gold Country, Durango, Co. Wow! So little time and so much to see. Remember "it takes a village of wagon masters to create these trips." POSTSCRIPT TO A RECENT TRIP: The Camp Pendleton outing dodged the rain, with an informative tour of the original rancho (before the Marines landed in the 40s). Inane beach games, s'mores, and more made a fun three days. Very special was watching in awe and admiration as the Marines marched past our encampment everyday with tanks and equipment to train for war. Our gratitude for these young men is overwhelming. So fortunate are we to live the "good life" because of those willing to protect us through the perils of war, now and in the past. Our next meeting is April 26, 7 pm in Abravanel Hall. Until then, HAPPY TRAILS to you. RV Club
