FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2016 23 Neighborhood Watch Senior Transportation Assistance Interest Group Our next meeting will be May 11 at 10 am in the Ballroom when we will have guest speakers from the Highway Patrol and Beaumont Police Department come in to update us on neighborhood events and answer any questions you may have on the area. There was a meet and greet recently for our new neighbors. After being welcomed, contact for new block captains was taken by Al Gettman. We are always looking for new people to become captains for our new and existing streets. Please contact Judy Irving at (951) 922-2525 if you are interested and she will arrange to meet with you. Save the date for our yearly event, National Night Out, which is usually Aug. 6 when a representative from our city and First Responders will be here. We will have sign ups for our potluck as we near the event. More on this to come. We are working on a plan to have a representative from Beaumont Animal Control come to one of our meetings. We are aware that people are driving too fast inside our community and concerns for safety are common. Please slow down, be aware of the speed limit. We have had some serious accidents on Four Seasons Circle and do not want to add to the numbers. Respect those coming round the circles, watch for those walking and if you are walking please keep to the sidewalks. ~ Susan Wilson We have decided to work on a travel training program at Four Seasons and to start planning some test trips from my home. The first trip will be to Morongo Casino on a Dial-a-Ride bus. I will be using my scooter to get on and off the specially equipped bus and to get around at Morongo. We still need residents to fill out the Senior Citizen Rider Survey. It is the best tool we have to show the need for a subsidized taxi service for seniors and disabled persons. It helps determine the transportation needs in the Pass area (Morongo, Calimesa, Beaumont, Banning and Cabazon) for those who can't drive now or won't be able to in the future. The survey is available at the Lodge or on online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/passtransitseniors. Pass Transit Dial-a-ride (for Beaumont) will come to your door if you are over 65 (ID required) or a person with disabilities (American with Disabilities Act card) and take you anywhere in Beaumont. Call (951) 769-8532 or (951) 769-8520 for a reservation. A 24-hour notice is required and you must have exact change. For travel to other areas of the county, you can connect with Riverside Transit at the Walmart Store. To get the schedule, call (800) 795-7887. The T-Now (Riverside Transportation Agency's citizens group) met April 7 at Beaumont City Hall. We now have the largest turnout of volunteers for the T-Now Pass area of all the different areas. Anyone interested is encouraged to come and voice their concerns or support. If you have any questions about transportation for seniors or the disabled, call Brenda or Richard Teeman at (909) 594 8487. ~ Brenda Teeman
