How many times have you heard the phrase "time flies faster the older you get." It seems one of the truths of the century, and I believe it. All the more reason we should enjoy our years remaining to the fullest. We have so many amenities at Sun Lakes we should join. What's keeping us? The outdoor swimming pools open May 1st and will be heated and ready to use. The indoor pool is available the year around. Bocce Ball is an on- going tournament schedule the year around. It is one of the best social happenings at Sun Lakes. The player's pool gets larger each year for a reason. It is easy to play (talent is not needed) and the Bocce Ball Club has expanded its schedule over and over again to accommodate the number of players. There is always room for more players. How about tennis or golf; don't shake your head — the courts or courses are there for you to use. All you have to do is show up and ask someone to show you what to do. After all, you live here, the amenities are yours to enjoy. It is your fault if you do not give it a try. Remember you are paying each month for the upkeep of these venues and you have a right to want to use them. It is difficult to understand someone moving to Sun Lakes Country Club and not trying to use and enjoy some of the facilities. If you do not want to sit home all day every day, check the schedule in the Lifestyles Magazine and read about the 80 some clubs and groups. Every one of them would welcome you with open arms and you would meet a host of people with some of the same interests you have. Do you like to sew, or dance, or garden, or play cards, or play pool or ping pong — the list is endless. We probably have a club or group to satisfy your interest. Please understand the philosophy of most of the inhabitants of Sun Lakes is to have fun and enjoy the remaining years of our lives. Isn't that the reason we worked so hard all of our lives? If you wander the clubhouses and talk to the people you will hear them say — I'm here to live out my years and have fun and meet a lot of nice people my age. What could be a better target than that! DELEGATE ASSEMBLY REPORT Joe Formino, Chairman, District Delegate Assembly 6 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2016 | Spring Cleaning Annual Systematic Inspection Spring is finally here and for many of us, spring is a time for organizing their homes and clearing out unwanted clutter. May is also our community garage sales month which you may find to be a handy way to part with items that you no longer need. If you have large items that need to be tossed away or extra landscaping debris that won't fit in your regular waste disposal can, you can contact Waste Management to arrange a pick up. Here is some information offered by Waste Management: Bulky Goods & Extra Greenwaste Collection: Residents may request the free pick up of household bulky items and extra greenwaste three times a year at no cost. To schedule a bulky item pick up, please contact Waste Management at (800) 423-9986 at least 24 hours in advance of your regular collection day. Electronic Waste: Electronic waste (such as televisions and computer monitors) that does not exceed 65 pounds can be collected at curbside for your convenience. Residents receive two curbside pick-ups a year for free, and additional pick-ups can be arranged for a charge of $25 per item. Advance notice is required. Contact Waste Management at (800) 423-9986 at least 24 hours in advance of your regular collection day to schedule pick up and make payment. Along with cleaning and organizing, spring is a good time to check your home for safety: • Is your home well-lit? • Is your home free of fall risks, such as open extension cords and loose rugs? • Are the fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors functioning?
