As we continue to polish the upcoming June presentation of Ravenscroft, we also look ahead to preparing for the 2017 spring show of That's Entertainment. First, remember to buy your tickets starting May 16 for the aforementioned comedy/gothic/psychological murder that will be performed on June 2,3,4, and 5. Attend, enjoy, and take your chance on winning the cryptic prize for guessing the identity of the wicked culprit! We meet on the first Tuesday of every month in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom at 1 pm. Come and get infected with our contagious enthusiasm. For further information on the club, call Barb Searcy at 663-3382, Bill Shova at 845-0547 or Jan Stapel at 769-6110. Secondly, think ahead… read and heed the description of next year's super production! | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2016 | 23 Mystery Theater & More May was an exciting month for the Drama Club. On May 1 we had a large group go to see two of our own, Harriet Briant and Annette Tringham, in the Beaumont CAST production of Calendar Girls. Afterwards, many of us adjourned to the South Clubhouse for conversation and amazing desserts by Sallie. We plan to attend more theater productions together during the year. Some will be followed by similar events to enhance the experience. This (and monthly dinner outings) is just another great reason to join Drama Club. May 21 we presented two fun radio version performances of the dark comedy, Arsenic and Old Lace, directed by Sue Dunn. Reader's Theater is a great opportunity to try out your acting skills without having to memorize lines. We hope to see many more of our Sun Lakes community come out for our next auditions in the Fall. May 25 was our second potluck of the year. We feasted on wonderful shared dishes and enjoyed some after dinner fun. We look forward to supporting members of our club (Bob Bray - director, Doug Deans – co-director, Sallie Smelker, Rose Hermanson and Gail Matejka) in Mystery Theater & More's production of Ravenscroft June 2 to 5. Read more about it in the Mystery Theater & More Lifestyles article and we will see you at the play! We invite you to join us in our productions and activities throughout the year. We have monthly meetings on the stage side of the Main Clubhouse Ballroom at 1 pm on the first Thursday of each month. Yearly dues are $13 for an individual and $20 for a couple. Contact Sue Dunn, Secretary (769-7552) for more information. Join our Facebook group by searching for Sun Lakes Playhouse and requesting membership. Drama Club 2017 THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT: Walk Down Memory Lane from World War II to Disco The Ballroom will be transformed into the Sun Lakes Nightclub with a theater-in-the round feel. Entertainment will consist of three genres - the 40s, 50s, 60s, and disco with audience participation throughout the evening. We are looking for performers — singers, dancers, comedians, ventriloquists, or ? to perform in each of our genres. Put on your thinking caps between now and June 2 and come to the meeting prepared to sign up for your specific act/song/ skit or ?. There will only be room for five performing acts per genre. Performers will be responsible for their own music and costumes. We also need to fill jobs for the show — video, lights, sound, house manager, publicity, ticket sales manager, and set designer. If you're interested in any of the jobs or you have any questions, contact Martie at 769-3217 or at misteggy@yahoo.com.
