| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | June 2016 | 21 The Creative Spotlight Weaving Demonstration We had 19 people attend Maggie's demonstration. It was a beautiful array of color and texture. Maggie answered many questions regarding the loom and discussed the processes in color dying the fibers she uses to create her unique pieces. We watched as she showed us what is involved in setting up the loom before actually beginning to weave. Then, as she moved the shuttle back and forth under the many fibers, we began to see a pattern emerge. Maggie also explained how she makes original stencils which she uses in designing additional decoration on some of her unique handmade pieces. We want to extend our thanks to Maggie Aguirre for such an enlightening and colorful presentation. Hello. My name is Royce Jerman. We have lived in Four Seasons over ten years and loved every minute of it. I was reluctant to move to a "Senior" community with a "bunch of old people." However, this has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I have met so many wonderful people here and enjoy every moment of life in Four Seasons. I have taught Tole Painting for about eight years. We started painting on wood projects like traditional tole painters but now paint on canvas almost exclusively. Some of the students have painted with me for many years! We paint every Tuesday from 10 am to 1 pm in the arts and crafts room. I have also taught Tatting & More for about seven years. This class has evolved too. We started as a tatting class until I shared a Christmas ornament project I was making at home. Everyone wanted to learn that and now the rest is history. We now work on all kinds of beading projects, loom beading and Kumihimo which is a form of Japanese braiding. But mostly, we just have FUN every Wednesday from 10 am to 1 pm. I have always enjoyed creating things with my hands and now I get to do that every week in our classes. What could be better? Please contact me for information at (951) 325-2549. If you would like to be featured in my column, or know of someone in our community who you think should be featured, please contact me, Lucia K. Wolfer at 2creativespotlight@gmail.com or (951) 552- 5557. Stay inspired! MEET ROYCE JERMAN, TEACHER OF TOLE PAINTING
