Sympson, Jr., a resident of Sun Lakes since 2001 and a long time resident of Pasadena, passed away in his home in Banning on May 19, 2016 surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years Sally, sons Richard (Linda) and Robert (Kris) and grandchildren Amanda (Loren) and Nicholas (Amanda), Lane, Lindsay, and Daisy. He will be greatly missed and remembered for his grand stories and treasured friends. No set date for memorial services. Sharon Thiel, a 13 year resident of Sun Lakes, passed away on May 26 at the age of 70 from liver cancer. Sharon was born on July 26, 1945 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She was the youngest of nine children among four older brothers and four sisters. She moved to California following her graduation from high school in 1963 to live with her oldest sister. Soon thereafter, she began to work at General Dynamics in Pomona where she met her husband, George. After a two month courtship, they were married in West Covina on November 21, 1964. They lived in Pomona for 12 years where they began their family. Then they moved to Upland in 1976 where they raised their two boys, Scott and David. Sharon loved all the activities and sports the boys joined that included baseball, soccer, bowling, BMX and fishing. Sharon worked for the Chaffey School District for many years as a work experience secretary. She really enjoyed interacting with potential employers and obtaining part-time jobs for the students. Sharon and George moved to Sun Lakes in January of 2003 where they became involved in many activities. Sharon was exceptionally artistic and creative and used these talents to scrapbook and make greeting cards to share with others. She was an active member in the Happy Cookers Club. She also participated in bunco, bingo and bocce and various card games including Canasta. Sharon loved to travel and especially enjoyed cruising. Alaska was one of her favorite destinations where she cruised three times. Sharon is survived by her husband, two sons, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren and another grandchild is due any day. Sharon was compassionate and possessed a deep caring for others. She was loved by so many and will be dearly missed by all.
