| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | July 2016 | 21 The Creative Spotlight Calling All Artists! The A.R.T. Group show at the Diamond Valley Arts Council gallery will run from July 1, through Sept. 1. The show is open to all Four Seasons' visual artists. The gallery is located at 123 N. Harvard. Please contact Nancy Hawkins ( nhawk2blue@aol.com) and/or Lois Stipp (Calstipp@yahoo.com) if you are interested in participating, as soon as possible. There are many ways to be involved in this show even if you are not going to be in the show. We would like volunteers for set up and to be greeters/helpers at the reception. It will be a great opportunity for our artists and lots of fun for all. Sherri Domenigon: Author, Painter, Photographer, Gourd Artist I was born in Vallejo, CA in the Bay Area, and have lived in Hemet since 1972. I taught preschool through college in the valley, but spent most of my 25 years in San Jacinto School District teaching 7th and 8th grade Science. I began at MSJC, earned my BS in Biology at UCR, and my teaching credential from CSUSB. My Master's degree is in Education. I retired in 2007, and went totally into activism and art. I joined many local community teaching and art groups, studying under Barbara Parish and others. It has been my Renaissance in creativity. My photography, watercolor, acrylics, cards, book and more can be seen at the Hemet Art Association, Diamond Valley Arts Council, Downtown Deli, Cameron Books, Ramona Bowl gift shop, and the Idyllwild Nature Center and Forest Service. I led bird tours for the National Audubon Society for decades, so nature is my daily inspiration. I believe that "life is a canvas," and through art I can continue to teach and try to capture the amazing sights I see through my lens, brush, and pen. My new first children's book, "The Lemon Lily Fairy," was a delight to write and illustrate. It was inspired after meeting Huell Howser in Idyllwild for a CA Gold segment. We have had roots here since the 1930s, and my husband, Don, has a farming pioneer family that goes back to the 1870s. We met at MSJC, where we both serve on the Foundation Board and the Scholarship Committee. We have a rental house in wonderful Four Seasons. My son and daughter, and four of my grandboys, all grew up through Hemet schools and graduated from Hemet High. I have two more grandchildren in Durango, CO. And my first GREAT grandchild was born in June! Samples of Sherri's creative artworks shown are: "The Lemon Lily Fairy" book cover for a children's book and large banner hung in the Lemon Lily Festival in Idyllwild, "Owl Family" gourds, "Sedona Vortex," award-winning photo in Hemet Valley Art Association and the Art Alliance of Idyllwild, "Moonstruck Swans," watercolor. Any resident will be featured who has any creative interest in any discipline. Thank you!
