26 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | August 2016 | Thoughts for the Month - As we move into the month of August and listen to our air conditioning systems working overtime, we (again) are grateful for the community in which we live. We can retreat to the pool; see a movie in our very own theater; assemble in the Card Room for card games (all air conditioned) and many more places to keep off the ravages of the heat. So – stay cool and enjoy Four Seasons! Four Seasons Players – Check Presentation (photo inset left) - A check from the Four Seasons Players was presented by Emilie Ortega, Players Director and Chris Pounders, Players President, at our June business meeting. We are grateful to this group for their generosity and their outstanding performance at the "Radio" presentation. Thank you. Kindness Recognition - LaDean Hatcher presents our very first Kindness Award (photos above). LaDean stated, "We should never take for granted the importance of an act of kindness because you might change a person's life with the smallest gesture. Mike Moreland is our Kindness recipient. Like a good neighbor, Mike is there and we noticed. We noticed him working to complete long neglected projects in other resident's yards before we found out that he is one of our neighbors. We were aware that he was about doing whatever he can to help other residents. For this reason and even more, we feel Mike Moreland deserves the Kindness Award. "Sunshiners" Recognized – Kathy Poss (above left) and Jackie Peterson (above right) were surprised at our June business meeting with the Team Sunshine Special Recognition Award. Kathy has generously volunteered (along with her husband) to take on the laundering of tablecloths that are soiled at our Celebrations of Life. Our thanks, Kathy, for your efforts in providing clean linens for these events. Jackie Peterson took on the housing of our tablecloths in her garage so that they are easily obtainable by team members when a Celebration is being planned. Thank you, Jackie, for providing this service. Celebrations of Life - We send condolences to Marilyn Thiel, family and friends on the loss of Marilyn's beloved son, Gregory Alan Henderson. A Celebration of Life was held on July 16 at 11 am in the Multipurpose Room. It is always sad to report the loss of neighbors and friends in our community. Our heartfelt sympathies go to families who have lost loved ones that we are not aware of. Team Sunshine Information - We try to provide the community with information on Team Sunshine services. If you need this information, it is provided at the Lodge Front Desk. Just ask for the Team Sunshine Caring Connections Information. It is a compilation of services provided by us. Our two co-chairs Margie Culton and Marilyn Rhyne are also available to answer your questions. Card and Phone Service: If you know of someone who has had surgery, recovering from an illness, etc., please contact Trish Egan (909) 844- 3852. This information is also passed to a "calling team". They will initiate a call as follow-up. Special Monthly Programs: The July 20 program focused on "Navigating Senior Housing Options" presented by Diane Masson. The presentation was well received, informative and thought provoking. Our Program Team, headed by Rose Mary Garrison, is busy with upcoming programs: Aug. 17 – Vitality Medical Group, Regenerative Medicine; Sept. 21 – Self Defense Demonstration; Oct. 17– Monday at 6 pm – Medium Entertainment, about an hour and a half, BYOB. Our programs are held monthly on the third Wednesday of the month at 3 pm as a rule. The October program is a segue from our usual date and time. Also, our bulletin board in the Multipurpose Room has current contact and resource information. Closing Thoughts - "Our lives are not determined by what happens to us but by how we react to what happens, not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes. It is a catalyst, a spark that creates extraordinary results." -Anonymous Team Sunshine
