52 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2016
Billiards for Fun
Okay, all you Four Seasons residents who either know how to play
billiards, would like to learn how to play, or who are rusty and want
to de-rust: C'mon out and join this amazing group of fun people!
We have such a great time every week playing this challenging, fun
and sometimes frustrating game that requires strategy, skill and a
willingness to try a shot that looks, feels and probably is impossible
— although we've all seen shots that are totally amazing. Some of the
players are even now practicing to sink the 8-ball on the break, which
results in an automatic win. No two weeks are the same because we
pull peas to determine partnerships for the day, and we rotate tables
so there is always fresh competition. There are all levels of players,
and lots of friendships have evolved from the group.
Bi-monthly we have a potluck in the ballroom. Players' spouses/
guests are invited to attend and then watch the play afterward.
There is always amazing food, fun and camaraderie. Also, quarterly
we hold in-house tournaments. Since these tournaments are held
only four times a year, it's a pretty intense competition. The first
and second place team winners have their names inscribed on the
BFFG plaque in the Billiards Room, so it's always fun to see who
wins, since partnerships are determined by random pea-pulling.
A big congratulations to our August tournament winners (pictured
above). We would love to have you become part of this wonderful
group, so come on over to the Billiards Room any Tuesday for one of
the two sessions: 11 am to 1 pm or 1 to 3 pm. On Saturday we have
an informal practice session from 11 am to 1 pm. We all hope you'll
drop by and check us out! ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine
