It pains me to write this article this month.
Guess who emerged from the 8 Ball tournament
undefeated? It was none other than I, Roland
Harrah. In a field of 14 players I was undefeated
in four rounds of play, including the semi-final
where I won against Larry Rice to drop him
into the loser's bracket. Larry won in that
bracket and joined me in the finals. The first
game went to Larry and we ran out of time so
a continuation date was agreed upon two days
later. Alas, Larry Rice defeated me on that day
although we played down to the final ball, to
win the championship for the month.
During the 9 Ball in-house tournament I
got my face into the picture again, and not by
"photo bombing" either. I had actually lost
one game in the first round but hung in there
during the competition in the loser's bracket
and emerged to meet undefeated Del Lyles Sr.
in the finals. I won the first game but lost the
second to relinquish the title to Del.
