| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2016 | 25 Musician's Jam Once again, our September session was a great time, with music of all kinds and a super supportive audience! This month we had Jim, Al, Marion, Shirley, Bill, Loren, John, Art and Erika playing ukes, guitar, sax, clarinet, accordion and vocal cords. So fun! Are you a musician, ex-musician, music student, friend or fan of a musician? Then you are invited to join us for a casual, open mic type music jam session. We will not meet in October but will get together once more on Nov. 6 from 3:30 to 6 pm in the North Clubhouse. We already have dates booked for each month in 2017 and will announce them in December. Hosts Lee and Michael Stone provide a professional sound system, including three mics and stands and a CD player. You, the performer, supply your own instrument and backing track music on CD, if needed. Please sign up when you arrive as performers will play in that order. Depending on how many folks sign up, you may each be able to play two to three songs of your choice. Our goal is to provide a supportive venue for you to play, at whatever level you may be at this moment. Singers have Karaoke – now you musicians have Musician's Jam. (Singers welcome – bring your own backing tracks or musician to play for you.) We have begun our fall/winter season. Our next meeting is Oct. 10, the second Monday of October, in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room at 7 pm. For October you are encouraged to bring five pictures of your work on a CD or flash drive to the meeting. Show everyone what you've been doing. You're sure to get some critiques or ooohs and aaaahs. Al Jaszcar will be in charge of this meeting until Steve Felber returns from outer space (or somewhere) for the November meeting at which time we plan our annual holiday get-together. Our meetings are fun for anyone interested in photography. We share pictures at each meeting. Some meetings have tutorials on Photoshop techniques, digital cameras and other subjects. Our meetings are on the second Monday of each month at 7 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. There is a projector system and photos can be brought on either a CD or a flash drive, also known as a thumb drive. Some of our members had no idea which end of the camera was which when they first started and you will see that their progress is amazing. Some of the groups' photos are on the automatic electronic display near the Main Clubhouse restaurant. You will enjoy attending the Sun Lakes Photo Group. Meetings are informal, there are no dues and whether you are a novice or a pro it is always fun to see what others are doing with their cameras. Info., Steve Felber, 769-6898. Photo Group Makua Hula group has been teaching hula lessons for free in Sun Lakes for about 15 years. If you would like to become part of our group, and enjoy the beautiful Hawaiian and Tahitian dances that we present, please contact Olga Marquette at (951) 846-3579. It is fun and good exercise. We meet on Wednesdays from 10 am to 12 noon at the North Clubhouse and on Saturdays from 8 to 10 am at the stage in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Aloha!. Makua Hula We offer a full Luau Entertainment for your private party or club! Retro Cooking with Bisquick is the Happy Cookers' program for Oct. 28, 11 am, South Clubhouse. Let's reminisce… remember years ago we would make our "Impossible Pie" with Bisquick? Or perhaps you have other memorable recipes you tucked away and forgot you had. Well, dig them out as this will be a fun program. Nothing more nostalgic than to think back to when we were young housewives with Bisquick on an easy-to-reach shelf in our pantry. There is still time to sign up for Happy Cookers' excursion to Edwards AFB on Nov. 15. We will also tour the Air Force Flight Test Museum. After visiting Edwards AFB, we will visit Charlie Brown Farms. This is a day-long excursion, 8:30 am to 7 pm. Lunch is on your own. Cost is only $41 pp. Write checks payable to Happy Cookers. There is a drop box at 6352 Spyglass Court. For further information, call Connie Cutner, 797-0072, or Linda Callahan, 797-3306. There will be a sneak preview of Happy Cookers' Christmas affair on Thurs., Dec. 6, South Clubhouse. We are going to have a magical Christmas venue consisting of a brunch with mimosas and entertainment. Starting time will be 11:30 am for social hour with brunch served at 12.30 pm. And since we will have South Clubhouse until 4 pm, there will be lots of time to be social and enjoy good friends. Happy Cookers
