8 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2016 | I will always think fondly of my time at Sun Lakes… Greetings friends, I would like to share with you that I have accepted a Regional Vice President role within Associa and will be leaving Sun Lakes. I will still have oversite of this community, but my role will be more based around the executive oversight. Allow me to thank you for many exciting years. It is funny looking back and seeing how much things have changed and how some things have not. Thank you to the board of directors for which I have served under: George Moyer, Mary Baines, Sherman Gallas, Mike Primak, John Clark, Kevin Wolfswinkel, Doug Swenson, Dan Comerford, Sandy Moyer and Jim Searcy. Thank you to the committees, delegate assembly and sub- associations. I have and will continue to look back fondly at my time at Sun Lakes; even in those challenging times because we collectively grew stronger together. Some of my fondest memories: • Being so nervous and stumbling through my first open session GM report. In the middle of it I looked up and saw Steve Kneass smiling at me, which gave me the confidence to continue on. • Settling all remaining builder defect litigation – Breckenridge storm drain and the slope creep issues • Serving as the MC and auctioneer at the SLCC Charity Week Women's Fashion Show • Being known by Director Clark as "Mr. Davis-Stirling" • The renovation of all three clubhouses, including the beautiful veranda • Creation of the Marketing and Bingo Committees • Renegotiating the TWC contract with more than $1MM in savings to the community • The many years of budget meetings with the board, delegates and the FAC. • The creation of Coffee with the GM • The hundreds of hours of one-on-one time with board members The Staff…. • Hiring – Al Vallecorsa, Mark Burchfield, Jason Ewals, Mark Schleiden, Heather Killian, and Chef Jason Rios (just mention the leadership) • Dealing with the loss of Tami Morgan… then being given the opportunity to re-hire her. Score! • The promotion of Charlye Sessner from Recreation Director to Assistant G.M. • Currently in the process of bringing aboard the new F&B Director, Marco Calderon Unfortunately, in a community like ours, the loss of friends is eminent and not easy to always understand. On a personal note, you have been so gracious and kind to me as I have struggled with my health. During the past six years I have undergone nine back procedures and surgeries. I was also diagnosed with chronic spinal pain that has now plagued me for 10 years. You were so sympathetic to me last year when I began to have intermittent seizures due to the pain. Your grace and kindness has helped me continue to grow and THRIVE during some challenging times in my life. And you know me, always with a smile. Sun Lakes is special, not just because of its size, amenities and structure. It's special because the people who live in Sun Lakes care more about community than facilities, more about friendship than financials and more about long term sustainability than awkward difference. Don't get me wrong, I am very passionate about first class facilities, clean and accurate financials; but sometimes the big picture must be considered. So I offer you a sincere thank you for the opportunity to have served you for six wonderful years. I am confident that the next five years will be better than the past and that your new leadership with take you to places I could only have hoped for. I will always think fondly of my time at Sun Lakes and the gifts that you have given me. I wish you all the very best and may the sun always be shining on Sun Lakes. Thank you… Jeremy Wilson, Executive General Manager GM Jeremy Wilson Bids Sun Lakes Goodbye
