12 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | November 2016 | By Lonnie Selstad I was born at a very early age... but seriously, folks... Officer Lonnie Selstad is a retired Master Sergeant, having served 21 years in the US Air Force. He has been a security officer for 13 years now, working with Allied Barton since 2009. He joined the Four Seasons team last November. He and his wife Martha, who works at Target, live just a stone's throw away - on the other side of Highway 74 from Four Seasons. Together, they have six grown children and six grandchildren. Travel is something they enjoy often, with the National Parks being among their favorite destinations. Lonnie's spare time is filled with music; he began playing piano at the age of eight. He has been a church music director since leaving the Air Force, and is president of the Lakeside Jazz Club in Lake Elsinore. He also has a swing jazz band called "Timeless": the music you remember (you can find them on Facebook). Officer Selstad is a confirmed night owl and really enjoys working the graveyard shift. So unless you happen to be out between 10 pm and 6 am, you may not have occasion to see him. But rest assured he is there, watching out for you and your community as you sleep. By the way, he's a pretty good writer too, eh? Access Control Committee Contributed by Ginny Gallagher and Tim Taylor. The Access Control Committee is excited to welcome our newest volunteer member, Pat Sweeney. Pat brings 25 years of experience in engineering and construction that will be quite valuable to our committee work. Pat has also served as Chair of the Architectural Review and as a Board member with other communities that he has lived in prior to coming to Four Seasons. Welcome, Pat! By now, our residents will have noticed some new signage at the World Cup gate for both directions. The Board of Directors approved the recommendation to install a speed bump in front of the spike strip at the exit gate and two new warning signs were installed just before the gate to warn residents to slow down to 5 mph while crossing the speed bump and spike strip. We expect that this addition will reduce the repair expenses to the spike strip. New road signage and markers were also installed for the ingress traffic as previously recommended and approved by the Board. The intention is to better alert non- residents that they cannot enter through this gate, and to reduce the lane to prevent passing and/or stealing a signal from a resident. The Committee continues to seek volunteers who can commit to meeting monthly (second Wed. of the month at 9 am) and who also have the desire to be engaged with numerous safety policies and procedures that will assist to make our community more secure. We are looking for members who have project management and/or information technology experience, and would be willing to research, analyze and present application information that could facilitate safety improvements for our Four Seasons Community. If interested, please contact the front desk to complete the Volunteer application form. Security Officer Profile
