36 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2016 | Dinner Dance Club We will have two Country Western Dances this month. Our first November dance will be on Fri., Nov. 11. Our second dance this month will be our traditional Friday after Thanksgiving on Fri., Nov. 25. After an exhausting day at the mall, come and have a relaxing time while dancing off a few of those nasty calories. To make this dance extra special we are going to make this a FREE night, but we will be collecting donations for our traditional "Holiday Wish Program." We hope you will have a few extra holiday dollars to contribute this year just as you have done most generously in previous years. All our dances are in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom from 7 to 9 pm. Our line dance instruction will be in the South Clubhouse on Mon., Nov. 7, 14, 21, and 28 from 7 to 8:30 pm. Couples instruction will only be once this month on Tues., Nov. 22, from 7 to 8 pm in the South Clubhouse. Don't forget about the New Year's Eve dance at the Main Clubhouse. We will again have a catered dinner with lots of fun and dancing. Check our flyer and sign up as we do have limited space and have filled up early in recent years. We think it's the best deal you will find. Info., Joe or Jean, 769-9148. Country Western Dance We welcome the fall season and some cooler weather for a change. November's dance will ring in the holiday season on Sat., Nov. 22. Doors open at 5:30 pm for the "meet and mingle" and dress code for the evening is dressy. From 6 to 9:30 pm we'll dance to the music of that great band Skyline Express. Sign-ups will be received between Nov. 1 and 10 by leaving your checks and sign-up form in the mailbox located on the front gate at 782 Torrey Pines Rd. As always, groups can sign up together and don't forget to indicate your seating preference. We'll do our best to accommodate. Our menu starts with a mixed green salad with rolls and butter. Entree choices are as follows: 1) Maple glazed 6 oz. boneless ham steak $22; 2) Cranberry dressing chicken rouladen $22.50. Both are served with mashed sweet potatoes with brown sugar/garnish with candied pecans and chef 's fresh vegetables; 3) Vegetarian selection is spinach and mushroom stuffed manicotti also with chef 's veggies $20. Tonight's dessert is a pumpkin loaf with brown butter icing. Remember, if you sign up and are unable to attend, you may call Carla at 797-3506 before 3 pm on the day of the dance, and she will arrange for you to pick up your meal to enjoy at home. Looking forward to seeing all of you at this month's dance. Tommy Bahama is coming to Sun Lakes for the annual charity fashion show presented by the Stardust Dancers on Nov. 16. Please put the date on your calendars, and gentlemen, it is in the evening so you can enjoy it too. This event is to raise money for our EPAP animal rescue efforts. Tickets go on sale Nov. 7 through Nov. 11 in the lobby. The price is $8 pp and will include those wonderful homemade Sun Lakes cookies, iced tea and coffee. Men's and women's fashion will be shown. Joining the dancers and models from the Stardust Group will be Chorale's Notables and the Razz A Matazz. Doors will open at 6 pm to allow you time to order food from the bar, as well as beverages. Service will be provided throughout the entire show. Visit the rescue group table and see just what is needed. Buy those raffle tickets as the entire amount goes to the rescue efforts. You may reserve pre-paid tickets at any time with any Stardust dancer. They will kindly deliver to you after Nov. 7. Stardust Dancers International Dancers In October we threw ourselves a party! Papaya Bay Thai Restaurant catered dinner for IDS members and spouses. We called it an Appreciation Dinner and that's exactly what we did: enjoyed and appreciated one another. Also in Oct. 18 IDS members joined 42 of our Sun Lakes friends and neighbors for a fabulous vacation week in Cancun, Mexico. IDS dance coordinators are researching and preparing new dance routines, and we are excited to see what we will have the opportunity to learn and perform in coming months. Ladies, in case you are wondering, no need to wait for the new year to join IDS. There is no time like the present. For information about our group, you may call Diane at 769-0286 (Director), Nora at 845-8333 (Flamenco/Filipino), Sussy at 797-3258 (Folkloric), Joan at 769-3978 (Asian), Sarah at 769-1164 (Hawaiian), Merle at 845-9342 (Indian), Donna at 282-1087 (Belly Dance), Rachel at 845-8393 (American).
