Happy holidays are here again and the Lodge is full of good neighbors and good cheer! Parties galore are gracing our facility halls (including the RCN and Summit) and the smell of delicious baked goods wafting through the air. I sure hope everyone remembered during daylight savings time to turn their scales back ten pounds for the upcoming fancy food deluge. You'll be glad come January first that you did. Speaking of holiday cheer, I hope you remembered to pick up your tickets to the free Holiday Show in the Lodge Ballroom on Friday, Dec. 2 and Saturday, Dec. 3. The show starts at 6 pm on both days and there will be refreshments served afterwards. By the time you read this article, most of the tickets will probably be taken. Call the desk to be sure there are some available and if not get put on the waiting list, if you'd like to go. We always have people who get sick or have unexpected occurrences which prevent them from being able to use their tickets. The next big event you won't want to miss is the Holiday Magic Show, sponsored by the magic branch of the Performing Arts Club. This is an occasion to thank the volunteer magicians who come to Four Seasons and perform magic throughout the year at no charge. This show in December has traditionally been the biggest magic show of the year and it is so worth the effort to get here! This event will take place in the Lodge Ballroom at 7 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 13. Everyone is welcome. The holidays are always a wonderful time for giving and if you haven't lived here long, you will be pleased to find out that the Four Seasons community is one of the most generous groups of people you will ever encounter. Not only do they out-give all the other local communities when it comes to supplying toys and food to Beaumont school children in need (through Winter Wish), but, they are always open to new opportunities to make a difference. One of the most enjoyable opportunities this year is Terry Fears' incredibly amazing, off the charts, Disney-esque mini-holiday home tour, on Saturday, Dec. 17 from 12 to 6 pm. Since the official HOA Holiday Home Tour (with numerous homes) was given a rest this year with its curators Teri and Jeff Davidson out of town, Terry Fears stepped up to offer his home as a means to contribute the much needed holiday dinner funds to one of our local soup kitchens, "Carol's Kitchen." Tickets for the tour can be purchased at the Lodge desk for $5 each and all proceeds will be given to that worthy cause. This might be a great excuse to have a little holiday lunch with friends or grandkids and then head on over to the Fears Family "Christmas House of the Century!" There will even be sweet refreshments served in their kitchen. See you there! While you're strolling through the Lodge admiring the huge lobby holiday tree, take a few extra minutes to see if you can find our tiny "reward ornaments" hiding among the branches. These two ornaments were gifted to us by resident Melody Seewoster during some of her many travels. If you find either of these two ornaments, gently remove them from the tree and take them to the desk to collect your $5 Smitty Gift Certificate prize. One ornament is a teeny-tiny "Cup-o-Noodles" ornament and the other one is a teensy-weensy pair of bright red wooden Dutch shoes. Each find is eligible for the $5 certificate. In all the fun and busy running around, may you find time to reflect a bit and count your blessings. Let's also take a moment and remember our friends and neighbors who have lost significant others this year. Go out of your way to give them an extra hug, or send an "I'm thinking of you" email or cookies. I feel the absence of some of our Lodge regulars who are no longer with us; you probably do too. Here's wishing you have one of the most meaningful and memorable holidays ever. Thank you for bringing so much richness and excitement into my life all year long. Let's all have a tremendous 2017 together! 16 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2016 Activities Director Corner By Cindy Graves, Activities Director DECEMBER 2 & 3 Holiday Shows 9 Ballroom Dance Christmas 10 AACC Christmas Dance 13 Holiday Magic Show 15 Wine Club Holiday Formal 23 Karaoke Kristmas 31 New Years Eve
