This is the perspective of the Artist of the Month, Stan Parry: I thoroughly enjoy my experience attending Rob's Drawing & Sketching classes. While I regularly attend the Monday morning class, I also try to go on Wednesday evenings, when possible. There are two reasons I really enjoy these lessons; I get to grow and express my artistic talent and second, to spend two hours with other friendly people who share my passion. My experience in Retail Window Display and my art background have been very useful in my drawings. However, there are some people with no prior experience that are doing great work. I've learned a lot from Rob, our instructor. He is a very talented teacher in so many ways. Come take a class. You may discover a hidden talent… Stan Parry We meet Mondays from 10 am to 12 noon and/or Wednesdays from 6 pm to 8 pm. Come explore your creative side. Any questions, call Rob Kelman at (951) 992-9156. ~ Rob Kelman FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2016 37 Creative Drawing & Sketching Class Counter Culture Cinema Due to the Christmas holiday, there will only be one screening in December. Our December screening, on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 6 pm, is the film Hunt for the Wilderpeople (New Zealand 2016, 1 hour 41 minutes, English). Here is a brief description from IMDb.com: "A national manhunt is ordered for a rebellious kid and his foster uncle who go missing in the wild New Zealand bush." The description is brief; there's a lot more to this movie, but I don't want to spoil it for you. This film received excellent reviews when it was released earlier this year, so come to the Lodge on Dec. 11 and see this little gem. All of our screenings are followed by lively discussion about the film; we'd love to have you join us. The Lodge Theatre has very limited seating, so if you're interested in our screenings, come early; we hope to see you there. Please note that all films announced are subject to availability. If you have any questions about the Counter Culture Cinema Club or want to recommend a film, please email Micki Rosen at michelesrosen@gmail.com. ~ Micki Rosen Work by Artist of the Month, Stan Parry Happy Holidays! We are entering the most joyous time of year. I hope your holidays are filled with family, love, laughter, and holiday cheer. The Christmas committee is in high gear planning our Christmas Gala for Dec. 10, in the Lodge Ballroom; 4:30 to 5:30 pm Cocktail Hour; 5:30 to 9:30 pm dinner, entertainment and dancing. Our tickets are sold out. If you are still interested in attending, we have started a waitlist. You can contact Shirley Caldwell, (951) 769-0014, to get on the list or find out more about it. We know there are always family matters that flare up and cause us to cancel our plans. Usually we are able to clear some names from the waitlist within the last week before the event. For those of you who cannot attend the Christmas Gala this year, I will take pictures and give you a full report of the event in the next Breeze. It should be full of fun, great entertainment, scrumptious food, fond memories, and a downright good time. Thank you community for such great participation! Can you believe this year is almost over? I hope you can look back and be pleased with what you see. Life is meant to be lived moment by moment. We have no control over the next minute, only now, so make the most of it. To that end, come and join us. Our goal is to help make our lives and the lives of our members, neighbors and community, more interesting, more active, and more informative. We are looking for new members who would like to participate and help us achieve these goals. Our next meeting will be Monday, Jan 09, 2017 at 6:00pm at the Lodge in the Card Room. We invite you to attend our next meeting. For more information, contact Joyce Allen, (951) 769- 4354 or Roxie Elliott (951) 769-2517. ~ Roxie Elliott African American Culture Club
