52 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2016 Billiards for Fun What an amazing collection of talented people make up the Billiards for Fun group! Our newest members, Mike and Kris Corbett, add to the laughter and competition and can also attest to how much fun we have every week. Our last in-house tournament of the year was held Nov. 15; however, since it was after the deadline for this article, the winners will be announced in the January article. In the meantime, however, check out the adjacent photos of our newest amazing players. There's always lots of laughter, and many times we hear someone say, "Try it! This is billiards for fun!" And it's true; except, of course, for the tension and high level of concentration in the air during tournaments, it really is a source of laughter and fun every single week. We will hold our annual holiday party on Dec. 6 in the Game Room at the Lodge. In prior years Ron and Judy Erickson have hosted the potluck party at their home, but since the group has grown, we decided that the Game Room would be better and give Ron and Judy a rest! Each guest is asked to bring a $10 wrapped gift to exchange, and to BYOB. There will be much celebrating by all, and the food will be amazing! One of the most fun and anticipated events of 2017 will be our competition against the Curly Cues on Jan. 30. We will be holding our bi-monthly potluck luncheons and our quarterly in-house tournaments in 2017 beginning in February. Both groups are looking forward to this challenge with different levels of anticipation. We hope you will drop by any Tuesday session from either 11 am to 1 pm or 1 to 3 pm to check out the group. We also have informal practice sessions in the same time periods every Saturday. We have such a great time and would love to have you join us. Hope to see you in 2017! ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine This month in 9-ball action, Thanh Harrah flew like an eagle into the final game undefeated. Kenny Payne scratched to lose in a game against Thanh and clawed his way out of the loser bracket, winning four games in a row to face her in the finals. That's Thanh Photo-bombing an action shot of Kenny Payne in one of the photos. Unfortunately for Thanh, Kenny was victorious twice to take the title but it was a valiant effort anyway. Speaking of valiant efforts, Mary Ann Diehl was undefeated in 8-ball! After five rounds of play she won the final game versus Larry Rice to clench the title. . Congratulations to Kenny and Mary Ann, this month's in-house tournament winners.
