50 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2016 | Sun Lakers & Friends As we go to press, our Tuesday league is well underway. It's been a struggle on some days, but everyone is trying their best and, after all, bowlers, none of us are headed to the pro division. So lighten up and have FUN! Here are some early results: High Team Scratch Series goes to team 11-4 Play (Ken Smelker, Diane Spence, Gaylord Spence and Rick Shanefelt). The Team Scratch Game goes to team 8-Ten Pins (Russ Summers, Burt Garbell, Paul Gomez and Ida Nily). Men's High Scratch Series goes Andy Toro with a 678. The Men's High Scratch Game goes to George Thiel with a 244. Women's High Scratch Series goes to Ida Nily with a 544. The Women's High Scratch Game goes to Carol Ellis with a 193. Team handicap scores will be tracked from week seven. Bowlers must have a minimum of 21 games (before bowling) to be listed for high handicap game and series. Bowling Tip for Seniors: "Swing - If the height of your back swing is becoming short and thereby slowing the speed of the forward swing, try to make a swifter, free, and loose back swing motion so your swing momentum will lengthen your swing arc and create more natural bowling ball speed. It is important to keep your arm muscles loose and relaxed during your swing motion. Relaxed muscles move more quickly than tense or controlled muscles." Rich Carrubba. Home Again Bowling Our Wednesday league is at the quarter pole and team 9, "Recycled Teens" has a two win lead over team 2, "XXX Seekers." Darlena Stevens, Joe Lawrence, Dottie Lucas and Jim Mc Callum can feel the hot breath of Micki Elsing, Madonna O'Donovan, Mike Draney, and Ken Elsing. As we enter the far turn and head into the second quarter of the season, five teams are bunched up in the middle with team one, "Spares are Good," bringing up the rear. With top jockey Bob McLean in the saddle, watch out for a "Silky Sullivan" stretch run. It's any team's chance to win the race with 25 weeks to go. The best is yet to come! Seasons high scores to date: Women's Scratch Games: Sue Sloan 204 and 203, Louise Deal 201, Kathy Snider 195 Women's High Game with Handicap: Kathy Snider 271, Louise Deal 269, Connie Matty 256 Women's Scratch Series: Sue Sloan 536, Connie Matty 513, Louise Deal 510 Women's High Series with Handicap: Lois Preston 731, Teri McLean 698, Madonna O'Donovan 689 Men's High Game Scratch: Bob McLean 256, Tom Keheley 237, Frank Mashburn 232 Men's High Game with Handicap: Tom Keheley 273, Bob McLean 267, Ted Bolden 257 Men's Scratch Series: Bob McLean 706, Tom Keheley 661, Frank Mashburn 626 Men's High Series with Handicap: Tom Keheley 769, Bob McLean 739, Jim Mc Callum 730 One strike good - Two strikes, Dos Equis, very good - Three strikes, a turkey. May we all get a turkey before Thanksgiving! Watch out for splits, they're no good - unless it's a "split of champagne." Okay enough is enough!
