| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2016 | 51 Sun Lakers III I always wondered if our league had interested people just waiting to get onto a bowling team, even if they didn't have a full team themselves to join the league. Well question answered! Our team's anchorman hurt his lower back, ending his season abruptly. In checking with our team secretary, Teri Cumerford, no one was waiting in the wings. Point is, if your interested and don't have a full compliment of four persons please get in line, we'd love to have you join us. Luckily our team, "4 Newbies" was able to do its own recruiting and found a fourth teammate on our own! Welcome Steve Horn to our SL III league. I was also curious if I had to plan vacation travel around bowling, the answer is "NO." Teams can "pre-bowl" and/or "make-up" games to accommodate travel plans, within a two week time period, before or after of the week missed, and games can be played with up to two persons missing from that day's game. As of Oct. 26, Week 8 of 31 in first place, is team 19-"Four Tea Cup" with 25 points: Earline Edwar, Sue Torres, Lonnie Brown and Paul Gomez. Season High Scores: Team Scratch Series at 2102 goes to team 18-"Double Trouble," Patricia Sedla, Lillie Lawzetz, Sandy Hepburn, Andy Toro; Team Scratch Game at 724 goes to team 15- "Four Play," Mitzi Taniguchi, Sally Brown, Bud Miner, Ken Smelker; Team Handicap Series at 2696 goes to team 13-"The Almosts," Laura Kosla, Ron Kosla, Emil Nily, Ida Nily. Team Handicap Game at 940 goes to team 5-"Ravens," Joe Griffin, Maureen Cond, Bill McDonald, and Bob Mejia. Still having too much fun, and currently in last place is team "Ten In The Pit," Dottie Johsz, Marlene Zande, George Johsz and Herb Breuer, and in hot pursuit of this coveted place is my very own team 16-"4 Newbies." Again, if you are interested in joining this welcoming, good- humored group of bowlers please contact Teri at (760) 217-9656. Pop Tennis As the weather gets cooler, the courts fill up, so come early and have fun. We are lucky to have so many Sun Lakers enjoy this great game of POP tennis, also known as Paddle Tennis. We will enjoy holiday music during and after dinner. The dinner will be catered. A sign up sheet will be posted at the courts. Please fill out with your dinner choice, number of attendees and give your checks or cash with your name on envelope to Lillie Lawaetz while on the courts or drop in the box at 5891 W. We normally 'pea' for partners at noon, then play to 2 pm or so. There is no cost to join our group. However, if you elect to join a team, there is a $15 competition fee per three month season. Eight teams compete every Thursday; four at 9 am and the other four at 1 pm in our Main Clubhouse Billiards Room. For a fun afternoon of fierce-but-friendly competition, come watch us play.
