FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2017 21 Lodge Committee The Lodge Committee would like to wish all of you a happy, safe and healthy new year! We have been busy getting settled into our new role and meeting with some of the groups who use the Lodge on a regular basis. Some of those groups that we have met with are: Ad Hoc Technology, along with Willis Fagan from the Community Planning and Transition Committee. We discussed their need to update some of the old equipment in the Ballroom. Willis is looking into a company to come and see what needs to be updated. Bob Powers from the ceramics group stated that he would still like to see the Arts & Crafts Room enlarged. The Planning and Transition Committee will be following up on this. The Salon staff discussed their concerns regarding their flooring which had never been sealed and the counter tops that are ruined from bleach and other materials. They should be replaced and the floors sealed. The matter will go to the Board. Willis Fagan, Bill Guy from Facilities Committee, Don Fant from Finance Committee, the Lodge Committee and the Board of Directors met to discuss the entire flooring in the Lodge building. After this meeting Willis, Bill and the Lodge Committee walked each section of the Lodge and unanimously agreed upon the flooring in each section. Willis will take those suggestions to the board. Our biggest event was getting approval from the Finance Committee to pass our Bistro kitchen renovation proposal on to the Board. We will be presenting this at the December Board meeting, Hopefully, as you are reading this article the proposal has passed. This is a very important proposal as enlarging the preparation space, installing larger appliances and creating a better flow in the kitchen will improve efficiency, productivity and capacity to serve our residents. We now have a total of five members, but are very fortunate to have four other residents who came to our November meeting and have expressed an interest in joining us. We meet the fourth Wednesday of every month at 11 am in the Lodge Conference Room next to the Bistro. The next meeting will be on Jan. 25. We love visitors, enjoy their ideas and concerns, so come and see us! ~ Brian Anderson We thank Carol Napolski, Niles Sundstrom, Ron Morgan and Barbara Miller for their volunteerism on the Rules & Regulations Committee for the past four plus years. Thank you too, Tom Halley and Barbara Mull, recent committee members. Job well done! ~ Barbara Miller Rules & Regulations committee At our December meeting, we discussed speed bumps for Four Seasons Circle as a traffic safety issue. The main topic was the control of vehicular speeding on the downhill area between the Summit and the Lodge. There is a level of responsibility on residents to control their speed — recalling that most accidents occurring in this area occurred by residents. There is a need for non-residents to check their speed in the area for their safety and the safety of others. This discussion is open for further research. The discussion of bicycle safety was raised by homeowner input. Over the past years there have been a number of residents using bicycles on the roadways. Bicycles are to use the rules of the road (ride in the same direction as vehicular traffic). At the same time, a vehicle should remain at least three feet from the bicycle. Bicycles and vehicles should be aware of stop signs and the vehicle/bicycle near them. The traffic issues raised almost always involve discourteous behavior. Omitting weather and vehicle malfunctions, speed safety issues are controllable. The next meeting of the Safety Committee under the direction of Anita Worthen is Jan. 3 at 1 pm in the Recreation Center North. ~ Dennis Gray Safety Committee
