Ballroom is under repairs, plans to have a guest speaker and a larger
observance were deferred.
Elliott said there will be repeated showings of the film in the
Lodge Movie Theater then an evening discussion in a larger room.
"We want people to bring their kids and grandkids and talk about
black history – some of the achievements, some of the people who
were prominent."
The AACC is just beginning, she said, to reach out and do things in
the community. "We want to make a difference in black lives, white
lives, all kind of lives." The club hopes to work with other groups in
Four Seasons to benefit the community as a whole.
Elliott said education fosters critical thinking and allows people to
realize "how much we have in common rather than not. That my kid
is just like your kid, that I love my kid like you love yours – that we
have to do the best we can for all of them – I think that's key."
