52 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2017
Billiards for Fun
We started off 2017 with a photo session of our amazing group.
(See photo above.) And we're still growing! It's because we have such
a great time playing billiards together, and we have all levels of skilled
players.
On Jan. 30, the Curly Cues invited the Billiards for Fun Group to
a first-ever competition. After sign-ups, we had approximately 30
players from both clubs participate. It turned out to be men versus
ladies (because although there are several women who play with this
group, they deferred to play with the Curly Cues). The guys were
assigned two pretty difficult handicaps. The final game was the
partnership of Pete Antoine and David Thomason playing against
the Curly Cues partnership of Leta Ramirez and Janine Rohrbacker.
Since the Curly Cues partnership was undefeated, Pete and David
had to beat Leta and Janine twice. Because of the difficult handicaps
imposed on the more experienced men, Janine and Leta won the
tournament. Thank you to all of the amazing men in Billiards for
Fun Group for their good-humored and kind participation. It was a
lot of fun for everyone. (Next year there will be no handicaps!)
Our February in-house tournament was held after the due date
for this article, so the winners will be announced in the April issue
of the Breeze.
If you are interested in honing your billiard skills, or just want to
play for fun with a great group of men and women, come join our
group! We two formal play sessions every Tuesday at 11 am to 1 pm
or 1 to 3 pm. We also have an informal practice session on Saturdays
at 11 am. Come check us out! ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine
