Our much anticipated production of, Walk Down Memory Lane, has seen the final curtain drop. Thanks to all who attended this new concept in theater at Sun Lakes. We appreciate your support and hope you enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed performing for you. Other than the fantastic live performers, there were many people involved in the actual production. They were the volunteers who spent numerous hours behind the scenes striving to coordinate what you experienced. What would a production be without lighting, music, stage director, and the timing of stagehands? Also, there were the volunteers assisting with posters, ticket sales, table decorations, etc. When one door closes another door opens. At our next meeting, we will be reviewing scripts for a June play. Consider joining us – here's how: We welcome you to attend our general meetings on the first Tuesday of every month. We meet on the stage side of the Main Clubhouse Ballroom at 1 pm. Our dues are very reasonable; $10 for an individual or $15 per couple. Our next meeting will be held March 7. It would be great to see new people who are interested in theater activities. For more information, call Barb Searcy at 663-3382 or Jan Stapel at 769-6110. | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2017 | 25 Mystery Theater & More Calling all actors and actresses: Beginning in March, playwright and director Annette Tringham will be conducting staged readings of the pieces that are going to be used in our Fall Production of Chatterton Country Club. These workshops will be on the third Thursday of each month through June on the stage side of the Ballroom from 1 to 3 pm (March 16, April 20, May 18, June 15). Come to any number of them you can! We need men and women to read for all characters – about 12 total. You don't need a lot of experience, it is script in hand and this is a great way to get your feet wet. Come and have fun, learn the roles, help shape the show. There are lots of parts in lots of sizes so please come and play. We are looking forward to seeing performers from Drama Club, Mystery Theater and more – and – some brand new faces. This will also provide insight into how a playwright crafts a new script. We are grateful Annette is giving us this extraordinary opportunity! The Drama Club is always accepting new members. If you are interested, please contact Sue Dunn, Secretary (769-7552) for more information. Our monthly meetings are on the stage side of the Main Ballroom at 1 pm on the first Thursday of each month. Yearly dues are $13 for an individual and $20 for a couple. See our monthly newsletter and stay updated by joining our Facebook group Sun Lakes Playhouse. Drama Club Happy Cookers Our January meeting, called "Chocolate, Chocolate," was a fabulous success! To an audience of almost 100 members and guests, these proud cooks demonstrated (and gave away samples of ) their chocolate recipes: Pam Mikkelsen, Sallie Smelker, Rose Hermanson, Virginia DeBry, Ruth Bray, Claudia Davis, Davina Jones, Wendy Ditchfield, Jeanie London, Kathleen Hampton, Jean Dobson, and Marianne Kneass. Program Chairman Gloria Peña gave an interesting history of chocolate, including these facts: the first chocolate bar was made in Mexico about 300 years ago; Cadbury, a British company, began producing chocolate products in the 1840s, and (as they say) the rest is history; scientists say that having sex is biochemically the same as eating large quantities of chocolate. (That must've been some clinical trial!) Our next meeting will be March 24. Because the South Clubhouse kitchen and flooring will be renovated that week, the March meeting will be held at the North Clubhouse instead. It will be a celebration of women chefs, including Julia Child — French Cuisine, Rachel Ray — Mexican Food, Giada De Laurentis — Italian Cuisine, and Paula Deen — Southern Cooking. We meet monthly on the fourth Friday, and our membership dues are $25. For more information contact Carolyn Wright, 797-3568. You don't have to be a good cook to enjoy our club! Happy Chocolatiers
