28 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2017 | Yiddish Culture Club How much do you know about the nearest hospital that provides necessary medical services for the residents in Banning and surrounding areas? On Wed., March 8, at 7 pm Mark Turner, CEO of San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital, will speak to us in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom and enlighten us about local health services today and the future for the hospital and those living in the area. This will be a very important open meeting and everyone is invited to attend his informative talk and discussion. Guests are welcome to come to hear this timely information about something that impacts our lives, city and community. There will be no charge for attending. Coffee and cake will be served. In January, we held a voluntary meeting of those members interested in suggesting ideas for 2017 activities. Our Program V.P. has arranged the following schedule of events for the remainder of the year so be sure to check our monthly article for each date. April will, of course, be our Passover Seder and Dinner and in May some of our members will star in "Readers Theater." Our yearly Ice Cream Social and getting to know one another happens in June and we will celebrate the birthday of our country with a catered BBQ and entertainment in July. August will feature a film TBA; September we will dine again for the New Year celebration with great entertainment by Vicki Knight. A trip to the Tolerance Information Center in Rancho Mirage and lunch out is scheduled for October, and in November there will be a special Veterans' Day program. We will end the year in December with the Menorah Lighting followed by a wine and cheese reception and Chanukah dinner party with entertainment. This is the YCC year in 2017! Calling all men! Does the "Heart of your Heart" inspire you to sing? Do you long to call your sweetheart in song? If so, then you should check out the Sun Lakes Men's Barbershop Chorus. No prior singing experience necessary, just a willingness to listen, learn, and join in. We are a group of amateurs like yourself who enjoy singing and having fun. We meet every Wednesday morning at 9 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. For details contact Harry Kaylor at 845-8054. Come join us! Barbershop Chorus Time is rushing by. Another month gone and we are right on target with preparations for our 2017 Follies Show, Just For Laughs, Sept. 29, 30, and Oct. 1. Our entertainers are busy devising ways to make you laugh. Selections of the perfect music for each act are being made. Putting together appropriate costumes will be next. So much to do, so much fun to have. If you would like to perform singing, dancing, or be part of a comedy act, just call Sandy Etz 845-4239 or Florence Morck 845-5750. We welcome newcomers who want to have a great time entertaining others! Sun Lakes Follies We are looking forward to our next rally in Valencia at the Valencia Travel Village. The trail bosses will be Bob and Amy Stilson. This is beautiful country and should be an exciting outing. The trip is planned for March 19 - 23. We have scheduled the opportunity to tour the Nethercutt Museum in Valencia housing many old cars, trains, and other vintage California history. A day of golf at Elkins Ranch is planned. We have an additional trip planned to Borrego Springs May 7 - 12. The trail bosses will be Dick and Tina Williams. We have welcomed several new members this year. If you have a recreational vehicle and enjoy the company of good friends and fun times in some beautiful settings, this is the club for you. We offer planned activities at each of our rallies, or the chance to explore on your own. Activities may include golf, bocce, bean bag baseball or others. There are planned meals to get together with your fellow RV club members. It is a great group of people.
