Big Band Dance 80s Plus Club If you are 80 years old or over, you owe it to yourself to check out this club and gatherings. Many people have hesitated thinking the group was full of "old" people and were incredibly and pleasantly surprised. Come try us on. We kicked off 2017 with the wonderful entertainment of the very talented Jeann Svarvar and her Tap Ladies: Joanne Graham, Annita Cobb, Dorothy Lewis, Suzi Dickey, Olga Marquette, Penny Skog and Kathy Reynolds. Their opening number was a favorite of times past In The Mood, taking the members back to their days of old. They continued with Mambo-Fireball, America, and Tina Turner's Fool In Love. Thank you Jeann and ladies for a fabulous treat! Our January meal was chicken marsala dinner catered by Thomas Catering and was wonderful, as usual. March's dinner will be the St. Patrick's Day fare of corned beef and cabbage. It will be catered by Thomas Catering so get your reservations in to Sandee by Feb. 28, at 1469 Littler off Allin. You may also reach her at 797-3201. Our entertainment for March will be our own Sun Lakes Notables. Our membership was totally dazzled by their prior performances and they are returning due to popular request. April will be catered Mexican food and will also require your reservations by the end of March. We meet the second Saturday of the month at 3 pm at the South Clubhouse. Spouses and caregivers are welcome to attend as well. For information call Barb and 848-7904. Happy Saint Patrick's Day! For those of you, who like me, also celebrate St. Joseph's Day, I hope your Saint Joseph's Day is a happy one. Growing up in a Italian Catholic family, St. Joseph's Day was extremely special. My dad and grandfather were both named Joseph. I lost my Dad this year, so St. Joseph's Day will not be the same for me. Our prayers and best wishes to Joanie Sackett who has not been well. Joanie has been a volunteer with this group since it began five plus years ago. Our next meeting and caregivers support group will be on Thurs., March 16 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. These meetings are not only educational for you the caregiver, but are also a support group for you. ALL CAREGIVERS are welcome at these meetings. You do not have to be caring for a person with memory loss to attend. We are here to support and educate you, plus entertain your loved one while you are attending the meeting. There will be no guest speaker this month. During this meeting your loved one is welcome in the Arts and Craft Room for games, exercises and an hour of live entertainment. This month Susan Brown will entertain. If you have any questions and would like to learn more about memory loss, we have reading material we can loan you. Call Diane, 769-0130 or Anne, 845-8700. Remember, we are here to help. Continuing with Know the 10 Signs Early Detection Matters from the Alzheimer's Association.
