36 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2017 San Antonio Winery is the last remaining winery in downtown Los Angeles, a hidden gem and historical landmark operating in the same community where it was founded 100 years ago. Santo Cambianica founded San Antonio Winery in 1917 on Lamar Street, dedicating it to his Patron Saint Anthony. Today, the fourth generation of family is still producing amazing wine. San Antonio Winery has vineyard properties in Monterey County, Paso Robles, and in the prestigious Rutherford appellation of Napa Valley. We are looking forward to a wonderful evening of tasting and education featuring San Antonio Winery showcasing wines from one of the most awarded wineries in California. We invite you to join us at the June meeting of the Taste d' Vine Wine Club on June 15, at 6 pm in the Lodge Ballroom. Please bring an appetizer such as bread or crackers and cheese, your own favorite bottle of wine if you wish, and a glass or two for tasting and sharing. Members $5, guests $10. Here is a brief description from IMDb.com: "In 1986, Saroo was a five-year-old child of a poor but happy rural family in India. On a trip with his brother, Saroo soon finds himself alone and trapped in a moving decommissioned passenger train that takes him to Calcutta, 1,500 miles away from home. Now lost in an alien urban environment and too young to identify either himself or his home to the authorities, Saroo struggles to survive as a street child until he is sent to an orphanage. Soon, Saroo is selected to be adopted by the Brierley family in Tasmania, where he grows up in a loving, prosperous home. As an adult, Saroo finds himself plagued by his memories of his lost family and tries to search for them even as his guilt drives him to hide this quest from his adoptive parents and his girlfriend. Only when he has an epiphany does he realize not only the answers he needs, but also the steadfast love that he has always had with all his loved ones in both worlds." Our second monthly screening, on Sunday, June 25 at 6 pm, is the film Where to Invade Next (USA 2015, 2 hours, English). Here is a brief description from IMDb.com: "To show what the USA can learn from the rest of the world, director Michael Moore playfully visits various nations in Europe and Africa as a one-man "invader" to take their ideas and practices for America. Whether it is Italy with its generous vacation time allotments, France with its gourmet school lunches, Germany with its industrial policy, Norway and its prison system, Tunisia with its strongly progressive women's policy, or Iceland with its strong female presence in government and business among others, Michael Moore discovers there is much that America should emulate." All of our screenings are followed by lively discussion about the film; we'd love to have you join us. The Lodge Theatre has very limited seating, so if you're interested in our screenings, come early; we hope to see you there. Please note that all films announced are subject to availability.
