24 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | June 2017 | Thoughts for the Month: What happened to 2017? We've been busy and we did not notice that we are reaching into the second half of the year. Mother's Day, Memorial Day and, in the distance, the Fourth of July looms before us. Celebrations of Life: Our condolences go to the family of David Helsley who had a service at Riverside National Cemetery on May 15. Team Sunshine provided desserts at the Helsley home on that date. We often do not have information on others who may have passed in this community. Again, our condolences to those who have suffered loss. The Kindness Program: Team Sunshine's kindness program is as easy as recording someone's special deed on a Kindness Card found at the Lodge Front Desk or you can contact LaDean Hatcher who leads this effort. Be the reason someone smiles today! Special Team Sunshine Information: We encourage residents to call Margie Culton (491-4058) or Marilyn Rhyne (926-9347) for Team Sunshine information. Our two Co-Chairs can direct you to the individual in Team Sunshine who can help with your concern. Thank you. A good source of Team Sunshine information is the Caring Connection Card which can be obtained at the Lodge front desk. Please stop by and pick up your copy. If you know of someone who has had surgery, recovering from an illness, etc., please contact Trish Egan (909) 844-3852. She will send the appropriate card. This information is also passed to a "calling team." They will initiate a call as follow-up. Special Monthly Programs: The May Health Fair was, as it is every year, well attended. Residents find this easy access to medical procedures and information helpful and it is always totally free. June finds us with a presentation by Donna McLaughlin entitled, Tales from 30,000 Feet. This is an evening program on June 8 from 6:30 – 8 pm in the Lodge Ballroom. Donna is a former American Airlines flight attendant and will share some travel tips along with stories of celebrities she has met. Fourth of July is of course, when we celebrate our country's birthday by giving thanks for the freedoms we enjoy. Come join us for good fellowship, food and patriotic music. This year the menu will consist of: ribs and chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, fruit salad, cornbread, and a sheet cake. Beverages include: lemonade, ice tea, coffee and water. Tickets go on sale on Tues., May 30 and is open to guests. We have a fabulous entertainment package headed by the One-2-Many Band and vocals by Sandy Kunz. Cost for a full day of fun is $26 pp. Please plan to join us, our programs are always interesting, informative and are focused with you in mind – our senior community. Closing Thoughts: "Time has a wonderful way of showing us what matters." – Margaret Peters Team Sunshine
