| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2017 | 39 The Big Band Dance Club will meet Thurs., June 29, in the Main Ballroom at 5:30 pm. Music will be provided by Main Street Swing Band. They will be playing all types of music. As usual you may purchase beverages and/ or order snacks. If you haven't paid dues or want to join, price is $25 pp per year. Entry fee is $10 for members and $15 for non-members each month. You may direct any questions to Mike and/or Carol at 845-5962. We hope to see many of you there. Big Band Dance 80s Plus Club Due to an oversight in our April issue, we'd like to recognize our entertainment for the month of February which never made it into a prior issue. For our February gathering, the South Clubhouse was transformed into the streets of Paris in the 40's by Evelyn Hawkins and the Stardust Dancers performing the lovely and lively Can Can Dance. The costumes were impeccable, the dancing sublime. We had a very large turnout this month and saw a great many shoulders moving in time to the music. Who doesn't love a well done Can Can?! Then the additional members of the troupe did a fashion show featuring many of the costumes worn over the years by the dancers. It was a great reminder of the many performances these dancers have done throughout the years. It was a well done presentation! Thank you Evelyn and dancers! In April, we had a repeat performance by one of our regulars and a huge favorite. Ray Rendon sang many of his commonly requested hits. They included Come to the Cabaret, You're Nobody Til Somebody Loves You, It Had to Be You and Blue Moon among others. Our ladies love you, Ray! I believe even the men do too, and his hot pink shirt even matched his mike cover, he's the whole shebang! There will be no meeting in May. It is the only month of the year we are dark. June will be pizza so get your reservations in to Sandee by May 31, at 797-3201. For this pizza dinner, no checks required, just the reservation to Sandee by the end of the month for a firm headcount. We meet the second Saturday of the month at 3pm at the South Clubhouse. Spouses and caregivers are welcome to attend as well. For information call Barb and 848-7904 The Stardust Dancers have been busy preparing for their showcase on July 14 and 15. The show will incorporate a lot of Sun Lakes history. The format will follow Banning/Sun lakes from the 1920s through the present. Tickets go on sale June 26 in the lobby.
