42 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2017 | Int'l Culture Club Here it is, June already, the year is half gone and summer is upon us in full swing. The ICC is going to future an Island and Polynesian night on the second evening in June. Doors to the Ballroom open at 5:30 pm. Music by the Sophisticats starts at 6 pm. Shortly after our flag salute and pledge of allegiance we will be entertained by the Sun Lakes Makua Hula dancers. You will find a pre-set fruit salad with mandarin oranges and pineapple on a lettuce leaf with Hawaiian rolls and butter at your table. The buffet starts at 6:30 pm by table call and it has two tables with two lines on each so it moves right along. It will feature two entreés as usual, Polynesian pulled pork and teriyaki chicken with rice pilaf, broccoli/snap peas and red pepper strips. Your dessert of pineapple upside down cake along with coffee and water will be served. Iced tea will be found on a sideboard in the room. You can sign up for this fun evening in the North Clubhouse on the first Thursday afternoon in June at 3 pm. The cost is $24 for a club member and $27 for a non-resident guest. If you would like to become a member you can do so at this sign up by bringing a separate check of $25 pp, we make it easy. Call Carol Hurt at 769-1315 if you need to cancel, do so by noon on the Sunday after the sign up. She will return your check; otherwise call her for a take out meal box, for later cancellations. Info., Diane Hofler, 769-9308. Good news for the summer. We will have informal "Summer Line Dance Sessions." These are for our experienced dancers who just can't get through the summer without some line dancing. For the month of June, there will be three sessions on Monday, June 5, 12 and 26, in the South Clubhouse from 7 to 8 pm. We will also have four sessions in July. The club has just completed its 24th year. The club has remained popular through the years due to the fact that everyone, singles and couples are equally welcomed to come learn a dance, meet some friendly people and have a good time. This past season, from September through May, we learned 35 line dances and ten different couples dances. We were then able to have some fun and show our accomplishments at the Country Western Ballroom dances. Except for the summer session above, we will be taking a little rest while we get ready for the next season starting in August and September. So, for people who may be interested in our dance club keep reading the Country Western Dance Club articles in your Lifestyles magazine. Country Western Dance
