| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2017 | 43 Bible Study Our Bible study group is non-denominational. All are welcome. We meet together every week for fellowship and study. On the first Wednesday of each month we meet for dinner before our regular meeting. Reservations for dinner are taken in the meeting the last Wednesday of each month. Bring your Bible, any version, and listen to or participate in our discussion of the evening topic. We're all learning together. We'd be delighted if you'd join us. We meet Wednesdays at 7 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Burned Brownies — a well- done dessert! Over the almost sixty years of our marriage, just about everything my wife—mother of our four children—did, was almost perfect. However, she could never bake brownies without burning the edges. Soon the kids were reaching for the brownie squares with the burnt edges, and if any chocolate squares were left, they were from the middle of the batch. Enjoying the imperfect ones kept joy and happiness at the table with us. As I've grown older, I've thought about how life is full of imperfect things and imperfect people. I realize I'm not the very best at hardly anything, but one thing I pride myself on is begin pretty damned good at selecting friends and raising a family. Every relationship will turn up a too well-done, crisp-around-the- edges chocolate brownie once in a while, and understanding that is the basis of any relationship—be it a husband-wife, parent-child or friendship. We shouldn't put the key to our happiness in someone else's pocket, but keep it in our own. So, please pass me a square of brownie, one with the crispy edges, because the burnt one will do just fine. I enjoy sharing memories and musings like this one with my friends in our Sun Lakes Creative Writing Group. We meet the first Monday (Main Clubhouse 3 to 5 pm) and third Wednesday (North Clubhouse 12:30 to 2:30.) All you need is a pen or pencil, paper (or a laptop) and a willingness to share.—Dr.Bob Percy
