| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2017 | 5 Sun Lakes Country Club is located in the San Gorgonio Pass Area in Banning, California. We are approximately 2,600 feet in elevation in the foothills of the San Gorgonio Mountains. I'm sure most Sun Lakers are aware of this information. However, most residents don't know we are located on the San Andreas Fault. Further, we are on the Interstate 10 Expressway, on a major railroad line and our property has major power lines and large gas and oil pipelines running through it. Review all of the above information and you realize we can be in a dangerous situation should an earthquake or expressway or railroad chemical or oil spill occur. We are fortunate to have an EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS ACTION PLAN (EPAP) in place to help save our lives when a major disaster happens. We are constantly being told it WILL happen! Unfortunately, most Sun Lakers don't take part in the drill. I'll bet they would be the first to yell for help should anything happen. In each District, the EPAP Coordinator, the District Delegate, and all of the Zone Captains are ready to respond when a disaster hits us. They check on every home to make sure you are all right. If there is an injury the nurses and doctors on our rescue teams respond and take care of the situation or send the patient on to the San Gorgonio Hospital or Medical Care Center for care. WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN A DISASTER OCCURS? Each home has been given a "FILE OF LIFE" pouch. In the pouch is a yellow "RESIDENT STATUS PLACARD" which should be placed in a street facing window WHEN NO ONE IN THE RESIDENCE NEEDS ASSISTANCE. That is all a resident has to do, place the card in the window to tell us you are safe. Is that too much to ask? Evidently so, since too many of our residents do not cooperate and we have to knock on the door to see if they are all right. DO YOUR PART THIS YEAR! DISASTER DRILL 2017 -- SCENARIO "At 1:13 pm on Fri., June 9, 2017 a 7.6 magnitude earthquake has occurred on the Banning Fault, with epicenter estimated 2 1/2 miles north/east of Sun Lakes Country Club. Traffic on Highland Springs Road is extremely congested, although the railroad and freeway overcrossings appear to be intact. It is a warm summer day with breezes of approximately 6 mph from the NE." DELEGATE ASSEMBLY REPORT Joe Formino, Chairman, District Delegate Assembly
