| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2017 | 33 June was an absolutely amazing month with all the Charity Week Activities. What a great place to live! We are all certainly givers and very glad to be! First Friday of every month is our night to party and June was no exception. The theme was Asian and the decorations were superb. Hanging lanterns from the ceiling (thanks to Susan Fitzpatrick), fans, flowers, colorful napkins and tablecloths for all the tables, all brought together by Jeanette Cadmus and her crew. The scrumptious dinner, catered by Thomas Catering, was very Asian with jasmine rice, sweet and sour chicken, vegetable medley salmon with cheesecake and strawberries for dessert arranged by Provi Donadio. The entertainment was provided by American Made, they were wonderful and had everyone up dancing and singing. Music was arranged by Jeri Wall. This group will be on the Patio in August. A special thank you to Peter Grinceri and his wife Marie – he purchases the coffee supplies and comes in early every month to make the coffee for everyone, and Marie makes sure a card goes out to any member to show we care, besides helping with the 50/50 game. Our event will be July 7 with a patriotic theme. Think red, white, and blue. The menu will be ribs with all the trimmings. The entertainment will be Punch and Judy, a singing/comedy duo. The cost will be $15. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Drop your checks off at my house, 610 Torrey Pines Road (corner of Torrey Pines and Riviera) or call me – Carol at 769-2616. For last minute cancellations or reservations – call Jeri Wall (909) 713-3311. For further information, call Clark Robinson (our president) at (909) 731-3311. Paisano Club "The tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao. The name that can be named is not the eternal Name." ~ Tao Te Ching These powerful words written some 2,500 years ago are startling in that even as far back as over 2,000 years ago, the Truth was known. But as the Tao Te Ching expressed it; it is inexpressible. It cannot be told and it cannot be named, but it can be embodied and be expressive of the infinite 'I' whereby the individual has dissolved and the eternal 'I' only remains. Behind the apparent solidity of this world there is an Eternal Intelligence, a vast endless Consciousness which is at the basis of the Real, but hearing this will not cause one to know God/Self/Tao. It will feel good to hear the Truth, but it will not actually cause one to Realize God. To do that one must drop proceeding from a 'me', must stop giving credence to an individual self and realize that there is a vast, limitless Powerful Intelligence that circumvents the mind. That Intelligence is the source of our being, but who knows this? It can only be accessed in Silence and then ONLY by desiring it more than anything in this world; more than a drowning man wanting air. At such a point Grace is activated to guide the seeker to merge with the One, to realize and know God by surrendering the personal self. Satsang (group meeting with a spiritual aim) begins with a 30 min. meditation (15 min. if new people are present) followed by a discourse and a short video presentation offered by a teacher adhering to the teaching of Non-Duality. As always questions are warmly encouraged. We meet in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room (next to the Library). Our weekly schedule is as follows: Sundays at 11:30 am – 1 pm This is a FREE offering. My background includes 29 years of formal spiritual practice under the guidance of two masters and 8 years of teaching (6 at Sun Lakes). You need not bring anything except an Open Mind. My name is Gina and I can be reached at gina-sat@msn.com or 951-846-1220 if you have further questions. Meditation: a pathway to truth Summer is arriving and people are out traveling. If you are traveling in your RV please take care. Our next rally is tentatively Oct. 29 to Nov 3, in Pahrump, Nevada. We will have our annual pizza party on Oct 18 in the South Clubhouse. We will also be having elections for new officers then. More information will be coming out soon. Have a safe summer. If you have an RV and like to enjoy the company of good friends and fun times in some beautiful settings, this is the club for you. We offer planned activities at each of our rallies, or the chance to explore on your own. Activities may include golf, bocce, bean bag baseball or others. There are planned meals to get together with your fellow RV club members. It is a great group of people.
