26 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JULY 2017 | | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JULY 2017 | 27 TGIF The Happy Campers RV Club is a very active club which was founded almost simultaneous to the first homes being built here at Four Seasons. In those early years, we numbered only a few rigs, but we grew steadily as our beautiful community grew. Today we have more than sixty rigs and more than one hundred members. We would love to have every RV owner in Four Seasons join our group. Sharing their many varied experiences with our own could certainly enhance the experience for us all. We meet every month on the first Saturday of the month at 9:30 am in the multi-purpose room. At our meetings we discuss and make plans for our many exciting adventures to RV Resorts, some within a day's drive, some further away, and some to our nation's fabulous State & National Parks. We also discuss subjects of general interest to the RV enthusiast, as well as issues that from time to time arise right here at Four Seasons. One such general issue is how we can be the best possible RV neighbors for our many valued friends and neighbors who also enjoy living here in Four Seasons. To that end, several times each year we devote time at our meetings to discuss what we can do, and just as importantly what we should not do in order to foster a positive and enjoyable environment for us all. We discuss and seek a clear understanding of our community's rules regarding RVs, RV parking and other issues that are brought to our attention. Although, as stated above, we would love to have all our RV neighbors join us, we are close to that goal, but not quite there yet and obviously we cannot/ will not speak for them here. However, as far as those who belong to the Happy Campers, I can tell you that they clearly wish to be good neighbors who are respectful of others. They have a good knowledge of the parking rules (for loading and unloading) and they willingly follow them. We continually ask for information and clarification as to address the common concerns here at Four Seasons as it relates to RVs. We do not want to have any recreational vehicles parked here for longer than the rules permit, parked improperly or for that matter, any violation of the association rules. The members of the Happy Campers RV Club of Four Seasons, like most of our neighbors appreciate the rules and regulations that have been adopted. They help to keep Four Seasons the gem that it has become. As some have said: our little bit of Heaven on Earth. Activities planned for 2017: • Zion National Park - Springdale, Utah - Sept. 2017 - Plus a stopover in route to and/or from at the Oasis RV Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. There are sure to be more adventures added as we move into the New Year. If you have a question regarding this article or would simply like information about joining our group of Happy Campers please contact me via email. I'll do my best to get back to you quickly. Bob Oxley – Email: fourseasonshappycampers@gmail.com Happy Campers RV Club Karaoke Hi everybody, and welcome to the Karaoke Corner. I'm wondering, is our Four Seasons Hemet partly responsible for karaoke all over the world? Maybe after reading this story, you should be the judge. Long ago, and far away on the great Mother Road (that would be "Route 66" as most of us seniors remember it) there was a large cowboy saloon on the west side of Amarillo, called The Longbranch. Travelers would stop and have a beer and a steak, listen to a band play their favorite country western songs and maybe dance the two step if so inclined. Now, on most nights, it was mostly the folks traveling across the nation that would stop for a respite on their long journey. But on Saturday nights, it was packed with young men looking for a cold beer and a good time, and young ladies looking for a dance and a chance to meet her special cowboy. It was just such a Saturday night, that a young singer from Oklahoma was brought in to headline and help out the band which was led by a young Texas guitar player, Waylon Jennings, who formerly had played with Buddy Holly. That night the beer was flowing and the joint was jumping, and after singing quite a few songs and drinking too many beers, right in the middle of "San Antonio Rose," the young singer passed out on the stage. The music stopped, and Waylon Jennings asked if someone could come up and carry the singer to a chair, and he would let them sing a song for doing so. So a strapping young man jumped up on the stage, picked up that young singer from Oklahoma, and carried him to the closest chair just to the side of the stage. He was immediately given a standing ovation by the entire crowd. Then, Waylon called the young man back to the stage and announced to everybody that he had promised him a song if he would "Carry the Okie." The young man said his name was our very own Dale Jones, and Dale proclaimed right there on that stage that night, that he loved to "carrytheokie." Since that night, it has changed a little. They changed the spelling, and took "the" out of it, but it's still just "karaoke" to all of us who love it… thanks to Dale Jones. And just maybe, if you show up in the Ballroom Sun., July 9 at 2 pm, you can sing along with Dale, and discover for yourselves the fun that is "CarryTheOkie." ~ Bill. Travel Club Travel Club is on hiatus. We are looking for a new club leader. If you are intersted, please contact the Activities Director. Women In Touch (WIT) As many of you know, there is a very special group of ladies here in the community who have bonded together to form the WIT Team. This group of ladies all share a common bond, the loss of the love of their life. This group of ladies meets the first Monday of every month in the Ballroom at 5 pm for dinner and lively conversation. We are your support group and this is your invitation to come join us and be a part of the WIT Team here at Four Seasons. We're on vacation until Fri., Sept. 1. Enjoy your summer and use the BBQs and the pool. See you in the fall! Happy Campers enjoying lunch on Coronado during our recent trip to Chula Vista Four Seasons Players Thank you, thank you, thank you for attending "Has Anybody Seen Roy?" our June 24 performance. We enjoyed this wacky play and hope you did too. It would be remiss of me if I did not mention Phyl Brumfield. Phyl joined Four Seasons Players at about the time we moved to the Ballroom. She looked forward to greeting and meeting all of you and I know you enjoyed her too. She will be greatly missed by all of the Four Seasons Players. Jeannie Lincoln was a really good friend of Phyl's, and Jeannie has volunteered to take her place at the door. "Precious" as we call her will be a wonderful addition and in some way will feel close to Phyl as she carries out her greeting duties. Our next performance is Sept. 23, presenting a comical play entitled, Who's in Bed with the Butler. More on this later. Meanwhile, enjoy your summer travels and family. Until next time, be happy and stay safe.
