I know the weather has been very hot this summer, so I hope the mention of some hot upcoming events doesn't require you to lower your thermostats! First, is a new Radio Show on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 6 pm, in the Lodge Ballroom. This is the first time it will be on a Saturday evening. Don't touch that dial! It's time to get ready for another evening of Olde Time Radio. Don't forget to mark your calendars for this event. You don't want to miss it. Come join us and many of your friends, as we venture back to the Golden Age of Radio, to a time when radio was performed live in front of an audience. We'll be performing two radio episodes: "Big Town" from 1937 and "Duffy's Tavern" from the 1940s. They're sure to bring some of you back to those fun times of your youth, sitting around the RCA console with your family, a bowl of fresh popcorn and bottles of Coke, waiting for the familiar theme music to start. For those of you thinking you'd like to try out for the Radio Show, you're in luck. There are several smaller parts available, so this would be the perfect opportunity to get involved. Please join us on Wednesday, Aug. 16 at 6 pm for a 'read-through' of the scripts. Updates on the exact location will be available at the Lodge and also on our local NextDoor app. We have parts for men and women that require no memorizing and minimal rehearsal commitment! The old radio actors carried their scripts on stage and so do we. No matter which side of the microphone you decide to be on, come on out on Saturday, Sept. 23, for an evening of fun! See you there. The next big performance will be "Way Off Broadway" on Friday, Oct. 20 and Saturday, Oct. 21. This show is going to be awesome! We've lined up solos, duos and groups to entertain you by singing memorable show tunes from well known Broadway musicals. Tickets for the performances will be available in September. I'll update you on the exact date in next month's Breeze. Finally, I'm again putting out a request for volunteers for our crew of sound, stage, lighting and more. For those who are able- bodied, we definitely need your help to set up/dismantle our stage. Jeff Davidson and Teri DiMarino have been doing this for years and would certainly welcome additional help.
