FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2017 21 Lodge Committee The American College Dictionary defines a volunteer as: One who enters into any service of his/her own free will. On June 28, following the monthly Lodge Committee meeting, the committee gave a very special luncheon in honor of their volunteers as well as some of the FirstService Management staff. Food was provided by all of the committee members with four delicious pizzas from the Bistro ordered by Jill Anderson. It was a fun-filled luncheon with much laughter, food and non-stop chatting. Jill gave each of the guests a certificate she had created for each one of them. She even wrote a poem for Jeri Mupo! It was a great event and the Lodge Committee completed what it set out to do, and that was to let all the guests know how much they are appreciated. Joanne Haberman and Joyce Butler, along with Larry Anderson and Jill make up the movie committee. Phyllis Kates owns a huge DVD collection and provides the committee with about 75 percent of the movies. Dave and Mary Alice Chorba are the Library volunteers who have made so many wonderful improvements in the Library. All of the FirstService Staff has gone out of their way to help the Lodge Committee since it was formed last December. They are the ones we turn to for all of our questions, concerns and computer help. Jeff Jordan was not in the photos, as he was our photographer. Our committee continues to forge ahead with many issues. We have created surveys which will be going out to the entire community in the near future. They will focus on the Salon, the Billiards Room and the Bistro. We are also ready to move on with the remodel of the Arts and Crafts Room, as the committee unanimously voted for the plans presented at our last meeting by Bob Powers of ceramics. Next step will be to contact all leaders of the various groups who presently use this room to get their input, ideas or concerns. Movie Rules are now posted in the Theater, as well as at the front desk. Lou Ortega from Facilities has finalized the chart showing the areas of responsibility for the Lodge, Safety and Facilities Committees. Each of us has approved the chart and it will now be approved by the Board of Directors, and each committee will add or subtract areas from their charters. As already stated, volunteers are a major part of our community and committee chairs, co-chairs and members are also volunteers donating their time for our community. We all encourage visitors to attend our meetings. I know we value their ideas, input and concerns and love to have them attend and have never had any issues until recently. Being disrespectful, disruptive, yelling and threatening other visitors is not the behavior anyone should display at Four Seasons. I hope this type of behavior will not be seen again. Our next meeting is Aug. 23 at 11 am in the RCN Conference Room.
