52 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2017 Billiards for Fun We have such a fun group here at Billiards for Fun. June was a busy month. The feature of June, however, was the Billiards for Fun Group versus the Curly Cues group tournament. As mentioned in previous articles, the Billiards for Fun Group was assigned only one handicap: last pocket. That means in whichever pocket their last ball landed, the BFFG members had to put their 8-ball in that pocket as well. There were so many more BFFG guys that signed up to play, that the CC's scrambled at the last minute to meet the challenge. But we did it! So, the games began. Since it was a double elimination play, most of the Curly Cues were eliminated. Then it came down to one partnership remaining: Eileen Gilbert-Antoine and Lois LeMottee. However, there were three BFFG partnerships remaining. Yikes ~ what to do?!? One of the BFFG players kindly stepped in, however, and suggested that the final three BFFG partnerships play each other until there was just one left, and they would play the CC's. So the team of Bob Rector and Ron Erickson played the CC team. The officiator of the tournament, however, sorta fixed the play. She admits it. Poor Bob Rector and Ron Erickson got to play only a total of four games, two of which were against the three other BFFG teams. In the officiator's defense, however, Ron and Bob are the best players in Four Seasons, and she was being ultra protective of her CC's. So the final match-up game began, with strategy and sheer will on the CC's part, and experience and expertise on the BFFG's part. It was a nail-biter for sure! However, the Curly Cues emerged victorious; if you can count a victory when the playing field was sorta fixed. On July 4 we held our amazing July Fourth annual tournament, with again, three divisions: Red ~ experts, White ~ soon-to-be experts and Blue ~ learning to become experts. It was a lot of fun, and everyone had a great time. Congratulations to all winners and participants. You are all amazing!
