FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2017 53 June was a busy month for the Curly Cues! On June 12 we held our bi-monthly luncheon at La Casita Restaurant, with Joy Collins as hostess. We always have lots of laughter and conversation while enjoying our bi-monthly luncheons out. On June 19 the Curly Cues sponsored a tournament against the Billiards for Fun Group. The BFFG members only had one handicap this time though: last pocket. See the BFFG article for an explanation of last pocket. Anyway, the unnamed officiator delayed putting the BFFG team of Ron Erickson and Bob Rector, who happen to be only the best players at Four Seasons, against the CC teams, for truly obvious reasons. Right? Wouldn't you? However, close to the end of the tournament there were three BFFG teams remaining and only one CC team remaining. So, it was decided that the three BFFG teams should have a playoff against each other until there was one team left standing. Yes, of course, you can guess the outcome. The unnamed officiator and CC player had to face her worst fears and play Bob and Ron Yikes! S-c-a-r-y! After sheer force of will, stress, frustration, anxiety and trying with all their might, the CC team emerged victorious! Yay, if you don't count the "sorta fixed" part of the tournament and the handicap. Whew! On July 3 the Curly Cues held our July Fourth singles tournament. As mentioned in previous articles, there were three divisions: Red - Experienced; White - Intermediate; and Blue - still-learning-the- game. Our first and second place winners were: Red: First-Verina Rector, Second-Pat Semler; White: First Lois LeMottee and Second- Lois Waugh; Blue: First-Janet McAdamis and Second-Sandy Butler- Roberts. Congratulations to all our winners and players. You are all amazing! We have also added a clinic/workshop every second Monday at 3 pm for an hour. Our helpers are kind and patient experts from the Billiards for Fun Group. Also, we will hold our quarterly CC tournament on July 17 — winners to be announced in the next issue of the Breeze. If you have always wanted to learn to play billiards, we'll be happy to help. Or, if you want to dust off your college skills, we'll be happy to have you play with us. C'mon, ladies! Come see a really fun group at play. We meet every Monday from either 11 am to 1 pm or 1 to 3 pm.
