| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | AUGUST 2017 | 5 A Message From Your General Manager By Rick Ruth, CMCA For this month, I'm including an excerpt from an article I wrote this time last year that deals with gate arm strikes. The reason I'm revisiting the article is that in the past several months we have experienced a dozen or more gate arm strikes that continues to happen. Here is an excerpt from the article: I want to cover an issue that is happening all too frequently and I'm asking for your help. The issue is damage to our gate arms and to vehicles, mostly at the front gate, but recently at the World Cup gate as well. The good news is the damage to the arms and/or the vehicles is 100 percent preventable. It's simply a matter of making sure your transponder or fob was "read" by the antenna or the gray reader. In reviewing videos of the incidents, damage to the vehicles could have been prevented by simply allowing extra space between the vehicle in front and the vehicle following. I suggest allowing at least two car lengths between you and the vehicle ahead. For example, if you are coming through the front gate and following another vehicle and you pass the antenna area and the arm stays up after the vehicle goes past the gate, you're okay. But, if you are following that same vehicle too closely and your transponder didn't get "read" (for whatever the reason), the arm will come down after that car right on top of yours! If you are at the front gate, and for some reason your transponder did not activate the gate, allow enough space between your vehicle and the one ahead of you so you will have time to see the gate arm coming down. The gate attendant will take notice and manually open the gate for you. Folks, please slow down when approaching the gate! Welcome all new owners! We have approximately 40 new residents this year to date and there is still four months to go. New owners may not have had a chance to look over our rules. With that said, I wanted to bring up an issue that I was asked to write about. It deals with walking your dog(s) in the residential parts of the community. Did you know that when walking your dogs they are NOT allowed to relieve themselves on any resident's yards? I'm not talking about the main streets (Four Seasons, World Cup, etc), I'm referring to the fronts and side yards of the homes approaching the main streets. This rule is stated in the current Rules and Regulations on page 10, Section 5.4 (1st bullet). Now you know. On behalf of the residents who have asked me to write about this, please be considerate of your neighbors when walking your dogs. Also, some of the corner lots in the community have a nice open area along the sidewalks. It may look tempting to "cut across" rather than going around the corner, but please use the sidewalk. You're out getting exercise, take the extra steps! One last note: The Board has entered into an agreement with a new security company. Their name is Southwest Security and they began servicing our site on July 31. We welcome the new staff. ***The Roving Cell phone number has changed! The new number is (760) 791-2318. Please delete the old number and add this new number. Happy August and be safe!
