Golf Advisory Committee: The Tee Box Bingo Committee | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2017 | 23 BINGO UPDATE: The Bingo Advisory Committee would like to thank all who attended Party Bingo during Charity Week. It was a fun evening for all 317 people who atteded. $2,000 was given away in prize money to the players. This fun evening is the result of Bingo donating $11,613 to charity. "Fore" Sun Lakes Residents… The Golf Advisory Committee (GAC) wants to provide residents with golf course information, golfing activities, and reminders of our responsibilities on our golf courses. We encourage residents to take advantage of our wonderful golf courses. If you are thinking about golfing you could start by joining the Pass Putters. You only have to putt and you do not need to be a golfer. The Pass Putters meet once a month on the putting greens by the main Pro Shop. Sign up and pay just $5. If you want to go all the way, buy the green apron, and, with your white shirt and tan pants, you will look like everyone else. Fun and new friends are to be had at these events. Plus, you can win money! Not sure? Come out and watch. You will be impressed. Check the sign-up sheets in the Pro Shop for Pass Putters, Nine and Dine, Shoot outs and clinics. There is always something going on. While you are in the Pro Shop buy one of the remaining Charity shirts at a discount price. The lakes on the Executive course will be completed soon. Engineering problems have delayed the project, but the lakes will be done right this time. Tee boxes for a shorter Championship course are scheduled to be ready in August. This should help mature golfers, and beginners, to enjoy the challenging Championship course. The hot weather has been hard on our courses. There are over 5,000 sprinkler heads between both golf courses to regulate. Our professional staff has done an outstanding job keeping our courses green without breaking the water budget. The turf reduction plan (58.33 acres) will help reduce water needs and enhance the beauty of our courses. We need to support the Board and Golf Staff in this future endeavor. Water rates will always go up. Keeping yourself hydrated is also important. The water coolers on the courses are sanitized and refreshed daily. Just part of the daily course set up by our staff. Speaking about course set up, have your ever wondered why there are no bird droppings on the tee markers? All five sets of markers on the championship course and two sets of markers on the executive course are wiped clean as part of the daily course set up. A nice touch for our courses. On the course reminders: Bunker rakes go in the bunkers with the handle 10 inches outside the bunker. If there is a cart path (par 3s, tee boxes, and greens) your cart needs to be on the cart path. Remember walking, jogging, and dogs are not allowed on our golf courses at any time. We hope we will provide you with useful information and encourage you to play golf. Contact info: Joanne 769-9557.
