48 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2017 | Hope everyone is enjoying the summer and keeping cool. For me, I have had enough of the heat and look forward to the fog and a hot chocolate around the fireplace. My granddaughter is off to Mississippi as a volunteer for Americorp. I am proud of her but a little sad to see her go. Our next meeting and caregivers support group will be on Thurs., Aug. 17 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. These meetings are not only educational for you the caregiver, but are also a support group for you. All caregivers are welcome at these meetings. If you are no longer a caregiver because your loved one is living in a memory care facility, you need this support group. This is another major change in your life and we are here for you. Those of you who are caregivers, you do not have to be caring for a person with memory loss to attend. We are here to support and educate you, plus entertain your loved one while you are attending the meeting. Our guest speaker this month will be Constance Welebir Ph.D. from Axion Research. She will be speaking on current clinical trials. Don't miss this. During this meeting your loved one is welcome in the Arts and Craft Room for games, exercises and an hour of live entertainment. Thank you to Valerie Hubbard and Sheila James for entertaining our loved ones in July. It was especially nice that we had entertainment for the whole two hours. This month Tin Man's Heart will entertain. If you have any questions and would like to learn more about memory loss, we have reading material we can loan you. Call Diane, 769-0130 or Anne, 845-8700. Remember, we are here to help. Continuing with Know the 10 Signs Early Detection Matters from the Alzheimer's Association. Sign #8 DECREASED OR POOR JUDGMENT: People with Alzheimer's may experience changes in judgment or decision making. For example, they may use poor judgment when dealing with money, giving large amounts to telemarketers. They may pay less attention to grooming or keeping themselves clean. WHAT'S A TYPICAL AGE-RELATED CHANGE? Making a bad decision once in awhile. Memory Care Group
