| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2017 | 33 Paisano Club "In every difficulty, all distress, And each perplexity Christ calls to you And gently says, "My brother, choose again". ~ "A Course in Miracles" A Course in Miracles was transmitted inwardly from Christ to Helen Schucman (professor of medical psychology) from 1965 to 1972, a prodigious download! This is not, by its own admission, a religious text, but rather a spiritual text pertinent to every spiritual seeker, no matter what religious affiliation. The quotation above with beautiful simplicity alerts the aspirant to choose again. What does this mean? Therein lies a profound message. Gently does it; do not take a stand in opposition, do not fear and do not give way to anxiety. Acceptance, relinquishment, allowing, surrendering… choose that, not the opposite. Yielding (the Taoist view) has the greatest power; and when we yield we begin to trust that; we begin to trust that there is a hidden reality that is running the show, that has only our greater good in mind! These challenges in life, instead of confounding us, are there to invite us to turn inward and discover this mysterious, hidden power, this Intelligence, the Source, God/Self that permeates all of Reality. SATSANG (group meeting with a spiritual aim) begins with a 30 min. meditation (15 min. if new people are present) followed by a discourse and a short video presentation offered by a teacher adhering to the teaching of Non-Duality. As always questions are warmly encouraged. We meet in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room (next to the Library) on Sundays at 11:30 am – 1 pm This is a free offering. My background includes 29 years of formal spiritual practice under the guidance of two masters and eight years of teaching (six at Sun Lakes). You need not bring anything except an open mind. My name is Gina and I can be reached at gina-sat@msn.com or 846-1220 if you have further questions. Meditation: a pathway to truth Summer is arriving and people are out traveling. If you are traveling in your RV please take care. Our next rally is tentatively Oct. 29 to Nov 3, in Pahrump, Nevada. We will have our annual pizza party on Oct 18 in the South Clubhouse. We will also be having elections for new officers then. More information will be coming out soon. Have a safe summer. If you have an RV and like to enjoy the company of good friends and fun times in some beautiful settings, this is the club for you. We offer planned activities at each of our rallies, or the chance to explore on your own. Activities may include golf, bocce, bean bag baseball or others. There are planned meals to get together with your fellow RV club members. It is a great group of people. If you are interested in joining our club or attending a rally as a guest to learn about us, contact John and Peggy at 845-8295, or peggasus28@dc.rr.com. RV Club We enjoyed a great July party-all decked out in red, white, and blue. Decorations-wonderful, food-superb, and entertainment- great. Aug. 4 will be our next fun night. Be prepared for a tantalizing, authentic belly dancer to entertain us for our Greek night (bring some dollar bills). The food will be catered by Thomas Catering and will be Greek food. Jeanette Cadmus and her wonderful helpers will make us feel like Greek Goddesses and Gods with their clever decor. Doors open at 5:30 pm with dinner at 6 pm. BYOB. Coffee and water will be provided. Sept. 1 (first Friday of every month) will be a rootin', tootin', cowboy night. Leave your horse at home but wear your best Levis and Stetsons. Bring your appetite and get ready for a lot of fun. A reminder - Reservations will be taken for the first 105 checks received (Fire Department won't allow more than 105). Reservations must be made by the Friday prior to the Friday of the event.
