big band dance Our "Black & White Ball" will be Nov. 9, in the Main Clubhouse. There will be black top hats, back table cloths and white napkins. The menu includes dinner salad with ranch and raspberry vinaigrette dressing, rolls and a carving station with strip loin (with a jus and creamed horseradish), turkey breast (with gravy and cranberry sauce), green beans almondine, sweet potatoes and cake for dessert. Members are $30 pp, guests are $33 pp. The band will play music from all the old nostalgic eras right up to the present time, including line dancing, Salsa, Tango, Swing, Rock and Roll, Cha Cha, Rumba, Two Step, etc. You will think you were dancing to the best of Glenn Miller, and Artie Shaw. Some of our band members were in that era and can really recreate some of that old time music. Nothing can beat the sound of a Big Band, and in front of that Band is Nannette the singer that puts Ethel Merman to shame.… almost. Our dance schedule for this fall deviates from normal due to scheduled activities of other clubs. So, please pay attention to our Lifestyles articles. Our Country Western Dances in the Main 80s plus club Our last meeting brought back the one and only consummate entertainer, Marion Brown. She looked fantastic in her classy outfit adorned with jewelry designed by Marion. She performed four beautiful love songs: "Looking through the Eyes of Love," "Right Here Waiting, "Speak Low" and "Evergreen." These songs take us to a magical place and time when we were young and in love. Thank you, Marion, always a pleasure to see you and Ken. We meet the second Saturday of each month at 3 pm at the South Clubhouse. Spouses and caregivers welcome. November is catered. " Clubhouse Ballroom will be from 7 to 9 pm on Fri., Oct. 5, and Fri., Oct. 19: Note that Oct. 5, is the first Friday and Oct. 19, is the third Friday. Line dance instructions will be at the South Clubhouse on Mon., Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, from 7 to 8:30 pm. We are still teaching beginner line dances so you can still come and give it a try. Couples instructions will be held at the South Clubhouse on Tues., Oct. 9 and 23, from 7 to 8 pm. Mark your calendars for Fri., Nov. 16, for a special event as we will have a guest DJ and dance instructor. Come and dance to some different music and learn a new dance. Have questions? Want information? Call Joe or Jean 769-9148. dinner dance club Fall is here – that glorious transitional season! DDC members will enjoy our monthly on Sat., Oct. 20 with music by the Dave Miron Band. Ballroom doors open at 5:30 pm for visiting with friends and neighbors. This also allows time to get your cocktails before the music starts at 6 pm. With cooler weather, our attire is "dressy. chicken marsala or a vegetarian baked potato. Of course, we always start with a fresh salad and end with a delicious dessert. Sign-up for the dance will be held on Thurs., Oct. 11, in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room at 2:30 pm. However, come early in order to have all paperwork completed in time for the table drawing at 2:30 pm.
